Commands of the Lord and Human hearts Revealed – Judgment by Fire and Sword

“and a SWORD will pierce even your own soul– to the END that thoughts from many HEARTS may be REVEALED.” (Luke 2:35, NASB)

This Judgment by FIRE and SWORD will be on “ALL flesh” (ALL mankind, ALL men eventually, either on earth or in the afterlife Judgments for sure):

“For the LORD will execute judgment by FIRE And by His SWORD on ALL flesh, And those slain by the LORD will be many.” (Isaiah 66:16, NASB)

God is the GENIUS.

Why does God Judge?

“I will destine you for the sword, And all of you will bow down to the slaughter. Because I called, but you did not answer; I spoke, but you did not hear. And you did evil in My sight And chose that in which I did not delight.” (Isaiah 65:12, NASB)

“The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I testify of it, that its deeds are evil.” – Lord Jesus Christ (John 7:7, NASB)

There is NO unrighteousness in the Divine Judgment of God because He only Returns ‘what evil we have done first back to us’ and the ‘level of pain is based on what we did toward others too’ as verses below clearly imply:

“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap.” (Galatians 6:7, NASB)

“Woe to the wicked–it will go badly for them, for what they have done will be done to them.” (Isaiah 3:11, CSB)

“Truly I say to you, you will not come out of there until you have paid up the last cent.” – Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 5:26, NASB)

The Judgment of the LORD in FIRE and SWORD means both the PUNISHMENT and their PURIFICATION thereafter and to see this we must view BOTH the LITERAL and ALLEGORICAL meaning in such verses to understand it completely (to ignore either is to understand His Judgment partially only —> please also note the words ‘sword’ or ‘fire’ in each quoted verse):

(i) SWORD

Meaning of His SWORD —-> Punishment which destroys & kills  as well as His WORD (Ephesians 6:17) which Judges & Heals (Psalm 107:20) & Reveals too (example verses: Isaiah 66:16, Isaiah 65:12, Jeremiah 25:31, Jeremiah 25:33, Isaiah 27:1, Isaiah 30:27, John 12:48, Hebrews 4:12, Revelation 1:16, Revelation 19:15)

“The wicked who have committed evil the whole period of their lives shall be punished till they learn that, by continuing in sin, they only continue in misery. And when, by this means, they shall have been brought to fear God, and to regard Him with good will, they shall obtain the enjoyment of His grace.” –Theodore of Mopsuestia, (350-428)

“We can set no limits to the agency of the Redeemer to redeem, to rescue, to discipline in his work, and so will he continue to operate after this life.” – Clement of Alexandria (150 – 215)

(ii) FIRE

“These, if they will, may go Christ’s way, but if not let them go their way. In another place perhaps they shall be baptized with fire, that last baptism, which is not only painful, but enduring also; which eats up, as if it were hay, all defiled matter, and consumes all vanity and vice.” –Gregory of Nazianzeu, Bishop of Constantinople. (330 to 390 A.D.) Oracles 39:19

Meaning of His FIRE —> Punishment which burns out evil & Purifies (Isaiah 9:18 – 19, Matthew 18:8, Isaiah 33:14, Isaiah 5:24, Isaiah 26:11, Obadiah 1:18, Malachi 4:1, Joel 2:30, Ezekiel 38:22, Nahum 1:6, 2 Peter 3:7, Mark 9:48, Isaiah 66:24,1 Corinthians 3:13 – 15, Matthew 3:11, Isaiah 66:15, Isaiah 30:27)

Here are examples of understanding judgment with regard to the ‘final outcomes’ or ‘result’ to realize the ‘purification’ aspect beyond the ‘punishment’:

“But who can endure the Day of His Coming? And who can stand when He appears? For He is like a Refiner’s FIRE and like Fullers’ SOAP.” (Malachi 3:2, NASB)

  1. a) The FIRE that is not quenched

“And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against Me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.” (Isaiah 66:24, KJV)

Please note that eventually “ALL flesh” (ALL men or ALL mankind) will find the ‘carcasses’ (or corpses, which are the lifeless remains of the body which are punished in the afterlife first) —> to be an ‘abhorrence’ in verse above.

How is this so? It can be seen in Principle in verse below (even Ezekiel 20:43):

“Then you will remember your evil ways and your deeds that were not good, and you will loathe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and your abominations.” (Ezekiel 36:31, NASB)

So, Isaiah 66:24 speaks of ALL men or ALL flesh eventually being SAVED (1 Timothy 2:4, 1 Timothy 4:10) —-> because His Spirit would have Poured out on ALL men or ALL flesh by then (Joel 2:28) —–> who then look at their ‘lifeless-dead-bodies or corpses’ which is NOT referring to someone who is ‘alive & burning in Hell’ —> yes, only the ‘corpses or lifeless remains of that remains’ by that time —-> which belonged to ‘some’ [referring to those who Transgressed against God] who were punished previously before that time in the afterlife, at Hell first —>  in the ‘age-during fire’ (Mark 9:48, Matthew 18:8)  —> and in principle of Ezekiel 36:31 or Ezekiel 20:43 (as it includes those from Israel who transgressed against the LORD too) —> as the full sense of abhorring one’s old sinful self which burned in the ‘fire that is not quenched’ (example:those referred to in Ezekiel 36:31 who are part of the all flesh in Isaiah 66:24)  —-> where for example (a subset) the ones referred to in Ezekiel 20:43 is the ‘whole house of Israel’ as Ezekiel 20:42 implies with Ezekiel 37:11 —> who earlier thought that their hope is cut-off or lost permanently (Ezekiel 37:11 again mentions this) —> who will be Saved both physically (by Resurrection again, Ezekiel 37:12 – 13) & spiritually (from their sins being removed permanently, Ezekiel 37:14) for ALL Israel (Ezekiel 37:15 – 28, Romans 11:26), yes from their ‘SINS too’ meaning none of them will be in Hell forever (Romans 11:27) –> yes, ALL Israel includes the ‘enemies of the Gospel too’ (Romans 11:28) —> simply because God does NOT change from His Will to Save ALL (His Call & Gift, Romans 11:29) & thus ALL will be Saved beyond Israel as well (Romans 11:12, Romans 11:30 – 31, Romans 11:15, 1 Timothy 2:4, 1 Timothy 4:10, 1 Timothy 2:6) —> due to His Mercy to ALL eventually (Romans 11:32). Can we see it?

  1. b) Eternal (more accurately, Age-during) Fire

The ‘Restoration of All things’ (Acts 3:21) is beyond Israel or Christian things only as even these examples clearly prove —> Sodom & Gomorrah suffered the vengeance of ‘eternal fire’, right (Jude 1:7)? But it is said to be ‘Restored’ at a ‘later time’ (Ezekiel 16:53)?

“But someday I will restore the fortunes of Sodom and Samaria, and I will restore you, too.” (Ezekiel 16:53, NLT)

or

“‘However, I will restore the fortunes of Sodom and her daughters and of Samaria and her daughters, and your fortunes along with them,” (Ezekiel 16:53, NIV)

Now, we are going to see some ‘Reasons’ for ‘His Commands’ which may Reveal a little as to ‘Why’ He seemed to have given some ‘difficult’ Commands toward us (Gentile believers) in New Testament verses. Please note that the Commands listed in this write-up here pertain to Gentile believers unless stated otherwise (Context). Let’s begin to look at it in various points (or aspects) as follows, please consider ‘seriously’:

1) Human Psychology

Let’s consider a human psychological aspect as follows:

We may have heard stories such as a newly appointed pastor who walks in as a beggar into his unaware congregation to see how he is treated first etc. We often don’t pay attention to non-glamorous things and like flashy stuff. Such is the nature of the flesh which is constantly against the Spirit (Galatians 5:17).

So, God being the GENIUS has given us some non-glamorous commands too which some of us don’t like to hear it (e.g. 1 Corinthians 14:34) even though it is the Blessed Inspired Word of God, right?

Some even go further to ‘claim’ that the Word of God is not inspired even ‘claiming’ that their ‘own writing’ is the one which explains ‘the meaning of life’. Can you see the joke?

Also, regarding Commands such as those relate to charity works, some are in the forefront (which is a good thing) but some too are not doing it in the manner it ought to be as the Pharisees erred likewise too (Matthew 6:2). The meaning of Matthew 5:16 is that as you do ‘His Commands’ naturally, do NOT expose it to the public but if the public itself speaks well of it or spreads it by ‘their own will’, so be it (and not we ourselves publish it in our ‘own newsletter’, similar to the Pharisees’ error in principle, Matthew 6:2) which is in accordance to proverbs 27:2 as well.

The World is full of those who prefer to do it the Pharisees’ way in regards to charity works too (Matthew 6:2) but our Lord commands the non-glamorous way instead (Matthew 6:2, Matthew 6:3) where if any light is seen by others in a ‘real & natural way’ (Matthew 5:16) it is in principle of Proverbs 27:2. Can we understand it?

Let us solemnly remember that despite all these charity works by these religious leaders (e.g. as implied in Matthew 6:2) —> and even prayer in the streets too (e.g. Matthew 6:5 in contrast to His non-glamorous Way in Matthew 6:6) —> and not to mention their great proselyting or converting work (Matthew 23:15) which could be under the excuse that ‘at least they are doing something what?’ or ‘at least these lost people are believing in YHWH now’ (implied clearly in Matthew 23:15, deep) —> and not forgetting their diligent tithe paying as well (Matthew 23:23) —>  but, but yet, all these ones are going to be ‘condemned to Hell’ regardless, despite all these Good Works & Ministry Efforts, right (Matthew 23:33)? —> is it a similar LAWLESSNESS alluded  toward Christians likewise in Ministry & Good Works in the Great Denial which the Lord addresses to the ‘Many’ on that Day who did such in ‘His Name’ (Matthew 7:20 – 23)?

Why?

They rejected Lord Jesus Christ as the Messiah (John 6:64, John 5:43, implied) and Cornerstone (Matthew 21:42) together with the ERROR of WRONG DOCTRINE which is also a MAJOR error of these Pharisees and Sadducee which caused them to be condemned (Matthew 16:6, Matthew 16:12) as this is what makes a ‘hypocrite’, right (Matthew 23:13)?

2) Blessing

Christians should be hungering for the Word of God (Amos 8:11) as it is Written in the Bible instead of being ‘blessing & money oriented’ (remember what the Devil said in Matthew 4:9?)

We should be preaching the Gospel in Truth and NOT promising prosperity ‘only’ (as false prophets have done in the past too, Micah 3:11, Ezekiel 13:10, Jeremiah 23:17, Isaiah 30:10, Jeremiah 5:12, Jeremiah 8:11, Jeremiah 14:13, Ezekiel 13:19, Amos 9:10).

There is blessing from the LORD (Proverbs 10:22) but it is not guaranteed to anyone (Ecclesiastes 9:11) unless the Lord Wills it specifically to some (1 Chronicles 4:10) but others can be ‘righteous whilst being poor too’ (Proverbs 28:6, Romans 15:26, Hebrews 11:37, James 2:1 – 6). Please don’t forget that some of the wicked too are prosperous greatly (Matthew 4:9, Psalm 73:3) whose end will be accordingly (Psalm 73:17 – 19).

So, let us not be deceived by riches and that’s why apostle Paul clearly NEVER preached promising prosperity in the Lord but rather he spoke the TRUTH that a believer must be CONTENT (1 Timothy 6:6, Philippians 4:11) regardless if he is RICH or POOR (Philippians 4:12, please note that both opposite cases are implied in this verse clearly!)  —> as that’s the true meaning of I can do all things in Christ (Philippians 4:13) as the next consecutive verse (context) clearly implies refuting the FALSE teaching of ‘faith for prosperity’ (a phrase or concept NOT found in Scripture; where is the Verse?)

Thus, we may ask God for our personal needs (Philippians 4:6) and regardless of the outcome of whether it is granted or not, in all circumstances we ought to thank God as this is the Will of God (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

3) Pastors

As pastors, one can receive a ‘living (and not ‘prosperity’) from the Gospel’ (1 Corinthians 9:14, in principle of Romans 15:27 too) but there’s a ‘higher way’ of NOT taking any money from the Gospel but working with one’s own hands ONLY to provide for that leader & for those with him as apostle Paul demonstrated (1 Corinthians 9:11 – 12, 1 Corinthians 9:15).

Yes, apostle Paul used his own hard-worked money in providing for both his needs and for those who were with him (Acts 20:34) and the money collections  which he took, he used it all for building other churches only —> in his ministerial needs toward other churches (2 Corinthians 11:8).

Please note that only a ‘living’ is allowed for pastors who take money directly from church collections (implied, in 1 Corinthians 9:14) and NOT prosperity or riches & thus one must decide for themselves before God toward all that they took in His Name.

If pastors want to be rich, they may ‘work a job in the world like apostle Paul did (Acts 18:2 – 3)’ or ‘Abraham did’ or ‘Job did’ as the latter were rich farmers too, right?

Please note that neither did Abraham, Job or other rich men in the Bible such as David (a king) or Joseph (a government official) ever collected MONEY in the NAME OF GOD and became rich. Nope, not one example of this exists (if you find a verse, please let me know, thank you). So, quoting that Abraham was prosperous and then taking huge salaries from a church collection doesn’t match at all with the Biblical Principles quoted. Can you see it (James 3:1)?

We need pastors who are more focused on ‘Word and Doctrine’ (please note the word “especially” in 1 Timothy 5:17 to realize this).

We must NOT sell Biblical teachings for money as this error was done in the past by Jewish priests too (e.g. the phrase “Her priests instruct for a price” in Micah 3:11, NASB) and even in early New Testament times by some as evidenced by the phrase “peddling the word of God” in 2 Corinthians 2:17, NASB.

If you need to price it in this information age, please price it ‘as low as possible’ to ‘cover the costs’ & ‘for a living’ —> if the need arises —> and not in the opposite direction against the verses quoted lest we become like the verses below:

“For from the least of them even to the greatest of them, Everyone is greedy for gain, And from the prophet even to the priest Everyone deals falsely.” (Jeremiah 6:13, NASB)

“And the dogs are greedy, they are not satisfied. And they are shepherds who have no understanding; They have all turned to their own way, Each one to his unjust gain, to the last one.” (Isaiah 56:11, NASB)

A good way is to put it free on some available Christian website or platforms too so that the poor can gain Biblical teaching for free since if it is a True Teaching from the Blessed Lord, He gave it FREE to the FIRST person to gain it (and is Commanded likewise toward others regarding His Free Gifts) as it is Revealed in Verse below:

“…Freely you received, freely give.” – Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 10:8, NASB)

‘The Devil cannot preach against the love of Money and Prosperity (Matthew 4:9, Matthew 6:24, Luke 16:9, 1 Timothy 6:10, 1 Timothy 6:9)’ – Anonymous

Yes, there is a ‘perfect’ walk of ‘faith with no money in the pockets’ (Matthew 19:21) of which I am unable to do but I deeply respect those believing saints who have done it (Acts 3:6) with regards to ministry or being an evangelist too (Luke 10:4), for example in more recent times, Sadhu Sundar Singh practiced it.

4) New Testament Commands of the Lord

Please consider the two verses below to learn that these commands in WRITING (please note the word WRITE in 1 Corinthians 14:37) are NOT apostle Paul’s opinion but are the Commands of the Lord where the Warning (Judgment) against ignoring it is mentioned clearly in 1 Corinthians 14:38.

“If anyone thinks he is a prophet or spiritual, let him recognize that the things which I WRITE to you are the LORD’s COMMANDMENT.” (1 Corinthians 14:37, NASB)

“But to the rest I SAY, NOT THE LORD, that if any brother has a wife who is an unbeliever, and she consents to live with him, he must not divorce her.” (1 Corinthians 7:12, NASB)

Please note that the word “I” itself when used does NOT mean that apostle Paul’s opinion is presented (but that he is addressing himself in writing) —> but we know for certain that it is his opinion when he mentions the adjacent phrase “not the Lord” or equivalent & not when otherwise. Can you REALLY see it?  In Fact, when it is otherwise, 1 Corinthians 14:37 clearly implies that these are commands of the Lord.

So, by default, apostle Paul’s WRITINGS are all COMMANDS of the LORD unless he mentions otherwise which is evidenced in the latter verse above as his opinion (or judgment) by the phrase “I SAY, NOT THE LORD”.

Someone may remark, ‘There’s hardly the phrase ‘I SAY, NOT THE LORD’ or equivalent stated anywhere else in the New Testament’

Reply, ‘It goes to show how LITTLE of OPINIONS are found in SCRIPTURE though their decision/judgment may be allowed (1 Corinthians 7:40)’. Regarding these opinions, we may have an option to obey or not but not so with the COMMANDS of the LORD which are WRITTEN without such equivalent specifications. Can we REALLY see it now?

If any church did NOT have the above New Testament Commands of the Lord (a Will of God), it’s not going to excuse them as God has no partiality & will judge accordingly as it is Written in Luke 12:47 – 48 where these verses refer to BOTH the “knowing and unknowing Servant”  who are primarily believers (context) —> as Luke 12:46 itself contrasts against ‘unbelievers’ which proves that ‘unbelievers’ are not those who are referred to here. Can you see it? [other related principle verses are Romans 2:14, Romans 2:16, 2 Thessalonians 1:8)

5) Heart

“The heart is more deceitful than all else And is desperately sick; Who can understand it?” (Jeremiah 17:9, NASB)

If you want to know a person’s heart, we just have to ‘hear the words’ which they reply (say when you show them New Testament verses such as 1 Corinthians 11:14, 1 Corinthians 14:34 or 1 Timothy 2:12 etc.) as the verse below implies:

“The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart.” – Lord Jesus Christ (Luke 6:45, NASB)

So, there is no such thing as ‘a dirty mouth with a good heart’ as the world errs to make them ‘look good’ despite being evil on the inside (where these remain in denial & deception whilst believing in temporal self-comforting lies).

Just because someone doesn’t reply ‘in words’, God Truly knows their ‘hearts’ for He can see their ‘real feeling & words within their minds and hearts’ when those verses are presented. Can you understand it (Psalm 44:21)?

My point is this: Let each one use Verses to judge and cleanse one’s hearts as these Verses are Good as they war against the usual desire of the flesh which is contrary to the Spirit (Galatians 5:17) and thus practicing “obedience” toward His Word ‘molds us’ toward ‘His Will’ (John 7:17) in ‘Humility’ too because ‘only the humble can obey’ (Psalm 25:9). Can we understand why such a command exists now in light of this?

In fact, when I see a person reacting negatively toward say 1 Corinthians 11:4 – 5, I realize this fact: If they are not going to respect and obey God’s Written Word, they are certainly going to be ‘rebellious’ & not going to listen to us either which is a good check for ‘spirituality level’ as 1 Corinthians 14:37 itself mentions. Can you see it too?

One last thing (please examine one-selves carefully, Romans 12:3, including me) :

Suppose (for argument sake) —> if the commands of 1 Timothy 2:12 or 1 Corinthians 11:5 or 1 Corinthians 14:34  —-> comes with the ‘conditional promise’ of “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!” (as found in Malachi 3:10, NLT) —-> would we really be having problems obeying those verses then?

Can you understand it?

Perhaps God didn’t put promises Written for every New Testament Commands and Verse because if we really cared about obeying Him, it must be so naturally as those who Love Him more would seek to obey Him more (more Commands, implied in John 14:15) and the Reward would be Greater in the Kingdom of the Heavens (Matthew 5:19, 1 Corinthians 2:9, Isaiah 64:4, James 1:12).

Let us not waste our time carefully constructing speech to please feminism or other such worldly-flesh based thing against the Spirit (Galatians 5:17) whenever anything is against His WRITTEN Word (Romans 8:5) to please men (Luke 6:26) but rather choose to please God ‘boldly’ (Galatians 1:10).

Indeed, we are ‘Revealed’ (Luke 2:35, Hebrews 4:12, 1 Kings 8:39, Revelation 2:23):

“But Jesus, on His part, was not entrusting Himself to them, for He knew all men,” (John 2:24, NASB)

“And why do you not even on your own initiative judge what is right?” – Lord Jesus Christ (Luke 12:57, NASB)

‘If there’s a context otherwise, I would love to hear it but please, only with verses; I repeat, only with verses please, thank you’ – Anonymous

Conclusion

“For the word of the LORD is upright, And all His work is done in faithfulness.” (Psalm 33:4, NASB)

“Should I worship Him from fear of hell, may I be cast into it. Should I serve Him from desire of gaining heaven, may He keep me out. But should I worship Him from love alone, He reveals Himself to me, that my whole heart may be filled with His love and presence.” – Sadhu Sundar Singh

God is TRULY the GENIUS Who has put forth His Word & Commands which challenges the flesh (Galatians 5:17) —> so that only those who Love Him Truly can obey His Commands (1 John 5:3, John 14:21, John 14:15, John 15:14) —-> and those who REJECT the WORD of the LORD are practicing something similar to “witchcraft” & “idolatry” (which sounds ‘serious’ enough for me, 1 Samuel 15:23) —> and under this ‘first context’ of the infamous verse, ‘obedience is better than sacrifice’ as it was originally WRITTEN to mean (in 1 Samuel 15:22) —> Where, isn’t ‘rejecting His WRITTEN Commands’ –> is a type of LAWLESSNESS, right (Matthew 7:23)?

Thus, no one can trick God into fake obedience for He Sees and Knows everything (Psalm 139:12, Romans 2:16, Luke 8:17, Jeremiah 17:9 – 10, Acts 1:24, Romans 2:6, Proverbs 17:3, Jeremiah 11:20, Ezekiel 11:5).

“Would not God find this out? For He knows the secrets of the heart.” (Psalm 44:21, NASB)

“then hear in heaven Your dwelling place, and forgive and act and render to each according to all his ways, whose heart You know, for You alone know the hearts of all the sons of men,” (1 Kings 8:39, NASB)

“And I will kill her children with pestilence, and all the churches will know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts; and I will give to each one of you according to your deeds.” – Lord Jesus Christ (Revelation 2:23, NASB)

‘Only Truth has the Property that no matter how it is analyzed, it speaks the same message as it is Written in Holy Scripture’ – Unknown

‘Be Wise, choose New Testament verses over new opinions of men who don’t remain as the Verses outlast each of them every time (Psalm 89:34)’ – Anonymous

“Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.” – Lord Jesus Christ (John 17:17, NASB)

P/S: Further Edification

Let us remember that the attitude of changing His Law which is to hold within a Covenant in the time period of an age is from the antichrist or lawless one’s influence as Matthew 7:23 with Daniel 7:25 clearly correlates and such an attitude is against God’s Will (Psalm 89:34).
