Does the verse below with the phrase “better for him if he was not born” prove eternal hell as commonly erred?
No!

“The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born.” (Matthew 26:24)

Better one is not born?
Only if there is no death.

Why?

“Better is a name than good perfume, And the day of death than the day of birth.” (Ecclesiastes 7:1)

Yes. Because God Solves your problem at Death eventually even if you went to Hell. Here’s another verse describing this ancient wisdom of truth:

“We will certainly die and be like water poured out on the ground, which can’t be recovered. But God would not take away a life; He would devise plans so that the one banished from Him does not remain banished.” (2 Samuel 14:14)
