Evangelism – Soul Winning in the Days of Noah
(i) Making disciples & soul winning is a wise thing as the verse goes:
“The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, And he who is wise wins souls.” (Proverbs 11:30)
(ii) However, “Proselytising or Converting” (making disciples) with ‘wrong doctrine’ (“leaven”) may ‘not’ be pleasing nor acceptable to Him as it was with the Pharisees too:
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you travel around on sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves.” (Matthew 23:15)
“And Jesus said to them, “Watch out and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” (Matthew 16:6)
““How is it that you do not understand that I did not speak to you concerning bread? But beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”
Then they understood that He did not say to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” (Matthew 16:11 – 12)
(iii) Beware of Christianity (‘in His Name’) which preaches “lawlessness” (ignoring New Testament writings & Rules) though it may claim many signs, wonders & miracles (let us ‘stick to His Word’ instead):
“Many will say to Me in that the day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your Name, and in Your Name cast out demons and in Your Name perform many miracles?’
And then I will declare unto them, ‘I never knew you; depart you from Me, those working lawlessness.’ (Matthew 7:22 – 23)
“An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and a sign will not be given it, except the sign of Jonah.” And He left them and went away.” (Matthew 16:4)
(iv) Let us be “wise”:
“And those who are wise do shine as the brightness of the expanse, and those justifying the multitude as stars to the age and for ever (continually).”
(v) The Great Commission includes the command “teaching them to observe all (not some things only) that I commanded you (the apostles)” & apostle Paul was divinely appointed to write about ‘what the Gentiles are to keep (obey)’ as the “commands of the Lord” until He returns without changing nor omitting any part of it:
“teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20)
“If anyone thinks he is a prophet or spiritual, let him recognize that the things which I write to you are the Lord’s commandment.” (1 Corinthians 14:37)
Ignoring this part comes immediately with the following ‘warning’ too:
“But if anyone does not recognize this, he is not recognized.” (1 Corinthians 14:38)
(vi) Beware of Christianity which preaches with “no” verse confirming the ‘doctrine claimed’ as well as Christianity which preaches “against” New Testament verses (E.g. Claiming that ‘the Lord’s commands are not applicable today’ to even “not” taking the Blessed Words of our Messiah ‘seriously’ even ‘daring to claim that He spoke colloquially’ hence not believing the verses as it is):
“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires,” (2 Timothy 4:3)
(vii) The Days of Noah Phenomenon
Christ prophesied that it will be “like the Days of Noah” (similar in many aspects) before the end of this age (prior to ‘His Glorious coming’):
“As the days of Noah were, so the coming of the Son of Man will be.” (Matthew 24:37)
An often unnoticed aspect (not the only aspect though) regarding the ‘Days of Noah’ is the fact that “Noah Preached Righteousness (in accordance to true doctrine)” although by account of ‘result’, the ‘number of souls which he won’ is ‘only seven, excluding himself’ (few):
“and He (God) did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a preacher of righteousness, one of eight, having brought the flood upon the world of the ungodly;” (2 Peter 2:5)
Some may argue further that Noah won ‘zero’ number of souls from outside his family by “His preaching of righteousness” which is true as well.
Thus, ‘as in the Days of Noah’, we may find that the number of souls won for Christ by us preaching the Truth of the Blessed Gospel as it is may be ‘extremely few to sometimes none’; but do ‘not’ despair since it’s already been foretold & Noah was still justified & saved though ‘His Preaching only affected 7 souls’ before God destroyed the ancient world by water.
At the end of this age, He Will destroy the World with Fire first, followed by His Judgment (‘in Wrath, remember Mercy, Habakkuk 3:2’):
“But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.” (2 Peter 3:10)
“LORD, I have heard the report about You and I fear. O LORD, revive Your work in the midst of the years, In the midst of the years make it known; In wrath remember mercy.” (Habakkuk 3:2)
(viii) Due to his ‘righteous preaching’, Noah was named among these:
“even though these three men, Noah, Daniel and Job were in its midst, by their own righteousness they could only deliver themselves,” declares the Lord GOD.” (Ezekiel 14:14)
Conclusion with regards to “preaching”:
““And now, behold, bound by the Spirit, I am on my way to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there,
except that the Holy Spirit solemnly testifies to me in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions await me.
“But I do not consider my life of any account as dear to myself, so that I may finish my course and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify solemnly of the gospel of the grace of God.
“And now, behold, I know that all of you, among whom I went about preaching the kingdom, will no longer see my face.
“Therefore, I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all men.
“For I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole purpose of God.” – apostle Paul (Acts 20:22 – 27)
