False Prophets – Test of Doctrines – Who is Speaking the Biblical Truth?

“Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.” – apostle Paul (1 Thessalonians 5:21, NASB)

Yes, we need to be “noble minded” like the Bereans (“no” blind faith):

“Now the Bereans were more noble-minded than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if these teachings were true.” (Acts of the Apostles 17:11, BSB)

Example: No Remarriage for the Divorced.

The Shepherd of Hermas also testifies to this same Rule as it is found in the Gospels.

Verse:

“Everyone who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery, and he who marries one who is divorced from a husband commits adultery.” – Lord Jesus Christ (Luke 16:18, NASB)

A Proper Exegesis:

“1[29]:5 “So long as he is ignorant,” saith he, “he sinneth not; but if the husband know of her sin, and the wife repent not, but continue in her fornication, and her husband live with her, he makes himself responsible for her sin and an accomplice in her adultery.”

1[29]:6 “What then, Sir,” say I, “shall the husband do, if the wife continue in this case?” “Let him divorce her,” saith he, “and let the husband abide alone: but if after divorcing his wife he shall marry another, he likewise committeth adultery.” (Shepherd of Hermas)

How does it Prove the Love of God?

True Love (Agape) has nothing to do with the “flesh” (which the earthly marriage is about, Genesis 2:24) -> where the “flesh profits nothing spiritually” (John 6:63).

So, by “obeying His Blessed Commandment” not only you ‘spare yourself of possibile Hell’ but also ‘you spare that divorced person whom you wish to marry’ from possible Hell too.

Also, you can Love (Agape) a person without marrying them as ‘no Love (Agape) is Greater than a Friend’s for the Gospel, right (John 15:13)?’

A married couple can be friends as well but marriage is NOT a requirement for “Agape” (Love of God) and hence, there’s NO reason to ‘break His Divorce cannot remarry – Rule to prove any type of love’.

Conclusion

Be a reason someone gets to know something about Lord Jesus Christ instead of being a reason for their sin, lawlessness or other law-breaking practices (e. g. being against 1 Corinthians 14:37 as a ‘Gentile believer – Context’) in Principle of 1 John 2:4 too (below):

“The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him;” – apostle John (1 John 2:4, NASB)

P/S: A serious question to ponder

What if your denomination itself teaches against this biblical rule?

Perhaps that’s a reason why they don’t want to believe in the Shepherd of Hermas Book as the earliest authorities in Doctrines did from among Roman Catholicism (e. g. Tertulian , Pope Callixtus I) Alexandria (Clement, Athanasius), Lyons (Iraneous), Eastern Orthodox (being part of the Codex Sinaiticus) and others too (Justin Martyr) etc. as described in the previous write ups too.

Simple Logic: If all of them (from earliest opposing theological schools even) agree to it being True, NO point in arguing otherwise.

Here’s an example of a False Teaching which teaches that a ‘Divorce can remarry for the Sexual Immorality Case’:

To quote (from the Assemblies of God website):

“Under what conditions then may remarriage take place? Jesus taught that if a divorce occurs under a biblical exception as stated earlier, one is free to remarry. In other words, one who has been divorced because of the repeated adultery of a partner (Matthew 5:32; 19:9) is not bound by the former marriage and is free to remarry. The exception clause (“except for marital unfaithfulness”) refers to a continuing lifestyle of sexual immorality, not necessarily a single act.”

Question

You seem to spend a lot of time looking for hope for the goats. Why is that?

Reply

Perhaps that hope is for you because regardless, I still do NOT want to see you in an eternal Hell especially when ‘I know that your doctrines are plainly against Holy Scripture’. Want me to give a list (with VERSES for each CLAIM made)?
