Judgment & Logical Fallacies – Oldest and First
Just like men elsewhere, Christians often fall in this trap of determining truth based on oldest & first with regards to their denomination or beliefs.
Truth is determined by Scripture and not based on which lie against it that survived the longest time.
Example:
Myth: Earth is flat (about the oldest lie found in many ancient civilisations too).
Truth: Earth is approximately a circle (a truth which is proven more recently with actual images of the earth from outer space itself).
A verse:
“It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.” (Isaiah 40:22)
Based on the “oldest & first” logic, the “earth is flat – statement predates this truth by thousands of years!”
So it is with Theology too. Thus proving any ‘timeline’ is a pointless effort as opposed to proving truth with Scripture. Scripture determines truth and not the “fallacious first & oldest – logic”.
God allowed various lies to prevail across mankind as a punishment for their own evil Acts (‘gave them up to a depraved mind’):
“And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper,” (Romans 1:28)
(i) Oldest
The logic of proving truth according to ‘the oldest statement’ —> depends on our archaeological limits —> relative to whichever timeline you start ‘claiming existence from’.
Point?
Scripture points to God proving that “none” of these “lies” existed at the “oldest” time when “He” first “founded” the “Earth” itself as ‘He Himself asks’ in verse below:
“Where wast thou when I founded earth? Declare, if thou hast known understanding.” – God (Job 38:4)
So, from the “oldest time” reference, God still wins as He will show a Time when ‘none’ of these ‘lies existed’ on Judgment Day:
“Therefore do not fear them, for there is nothing concealed that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known.” – Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 10:26)
(ii) First
Again, He will show you a Time on Judgment Day where ‘He is the First’ & ‘none’ of the ‘things’ we ‘assumed existed’ is found.
Thus, ‘He is the First’, way before the ‘world (all creation in it) even existed’:
“And now glorify Me, You Father, with Yourself, with the glory that I had with You before the world existed.” – Lord Jesus Christ (John 17:5)
“Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts: ‘I am the First and I am the Last, And there is no God besides Me.” (Isaiah 44:6)
“I am the LORD, and there is no other; Besides Me there is no God. I will gird you, though you have not known Me;” (Isaiah 45:5)
Men have been fighting pointlessly with each other too regarding such ‘first & oldest’ issues without realising that “God pre-dates all these”.
In fact, the ‘whole earth’ is “His” for “He created it”. The claims of any man over any piece of land is thus invalid. Based on ‘their logic’, since they were the ‘first’ on this land, then the land belongs to them.
God may reveal a Time when “no man” existed on any part of the Earth to prove by ‘that same logic of theirs’ to ‘prove’ that in fact, “He Alone” owns the “Earth”.
In fact, it is “His Sun”, “His Earth”, “His World” & “ALL souls belong to Him” too as verses plainly state:
“A Psalm of David. The earth is the LORD’S, and all it contains, The world, and those who dwell in it.” (Psalm 24:1)
“so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.” – Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 5:45)
“Behold, all souls are Mine; the soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is Mine. The soul who sins will die.” – God (Ezekiel 18:4)
Conclusion
We need to understand the above and give thanks to Him Who created us all:
“Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and the years draw near when you will say, “I have no delight in them”; (Ecclesiastes 12:1)
“always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father;” (Ephesians 5:20)
Our ‘evil rebellion’ against ‘Him’ merits its punishment accordingly (Example):
“Men were scorched with fierce heat; and they blasphemed the name of God who has the power over these plagues, and they did not repent so as to give Him glory.” (Revelation 16:9)
It’s perfectly logical that “men are judged” accordingly for all the ‘evil done claiming His Holy Name in vain’ to every ‘lie & evil thing which they falsely claimed that God approved or did’:
“You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain.” (Exodus 20:7)
“It was also about these men that Enoch, in the seventh generation from Adam, prophesied, saying, “Behold, the Lord came with many thousands of His holy ones,
to execute judgment upon all, and to convict all the ungodly of all their ungodly deeds which they have done in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.” (Jude 1:14 – 15)
Thus, let us FEAR GOD and be careful regarding the ‘things’ which we ‘say/claim’ about ‘Him’ according to ‘our beliefs’ because ‘false statements & sincere lies’ all merit ‘Judgment’ accordingly (‘May God have Mercy even in His Wrath’):
“The conclusion, when all has been heard, is: FEAR GOD and KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS, because this applies to every person.” (Ecclesiastes 12:13)
“For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” – Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 12:37)
“Let not many of you become teachers, my brethren, knowing that as such we will incur a stricter judgment.” (James 3:1)
“LORD, I have heard the REPORT about You and I FEAR. O LORD, revive Your work in the midst of the years, In the midst of the years make it known; In WRATH remember MERCY.” (Habakkuk 3:2)
“For He says to Moses: “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” (Romans 9:15)
In these ‘last days’, He has Revealed the Truth through His Only Begotten Son & has Commanded men everywhere to ‘repent’:
“God, having spoken long ago to our fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways,
in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, and through whom He made the ages,” (Hebrews 1:1 – 2)
“So indeed God, having overlooked the times of ignorance, now commands all men everywhere to repent,” (Acts 17:30)
‘You need not be afraid when you speak a truth about God but only if it’s a lie; for the fear that comes with lies too is part of their punishment’ – Anonymous
“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.” (1 John 4:18)
