My wish?
Don’t ask. Greater things.
JESUS SPEAKS: “If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.” (John 15:7)
Most people would immediately wish for plenty of money, the prettiest wife or other worldly things if God would have given them this privilege of ‘a wish’.
However, the biggest mystery regarding those who were given this privilege is that “they chose” to “ask nothing” instead probably because they have begun to become “more like Him” (selfless, “no” more seeking after ‘personal wishes’ of all sorts) as this verse reveals this mystery:
Lord Jesus Christ spoke to His closest disciples:
“Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be made full.” (John 16:24)
P/S:
Note the phrase “asked for nothing” in the last verse above.
Amazing, isn’t it?
Probably, that’s why their names are written even in the very ‘foundations of the Great City’ in Heaven (even though they didn’t ask for it) as this verse reveals:
“And the wall of the city had twelve foundation stones, and on them were the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.” (Revelation 21:14)
Remember, there are far greater ‘unknown things’ (beyond anything in this world) which God has prepared for those that ‘Love Him’:
“But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him.” (1 Corinthians 2:9)
So, be wise if you were given “the wish”.
A secret: They wished only to be with Lord Jesus Christ (One wish only) with “no” hidden agenda nor to get any worldly thing out of Him (money, women, power, pleasures etc).
