Purgatorial Hell Universalism

Save those Destroyed or Perished?

Last Updated on: 26 September 2019

Can Lord Jesus Christ Do it?

Yes. In all parables regarding the lost sheep or lost coin, all that are lost are found by Him. Indeed, some may not be His Sheep but the Verse below allows for a General Context where the “lost” refers to “sinners” bringing Hope for all men to be Saved eventually by Lord Jesus Christ Who Seeks them out (John 12:32, 1 Timothy 4:10) where also the Root Greek Word translated as “lost” in such Verses have a deeper meaning of

Apololos (Koine Greek) = “lost” = “perished” = “destroyed”.

So, Salvation by Christ is Possible toward those who must by Judgment “perish” or be “destroyed” first, example:

“For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost (Apololos/destroyed/perished)*.” – Lord Jesus Christ (Luke 19:10, KJV)

*(emphasis mine)

Is such Definition legit? Yes by the same Bible Scholars who translated the Verse above you have the ‘broader more accurate definition of including all these meanings in one Greek Word’ as illustrated in Image, source:

https://biblehub.com/matthew/18-11.htm

This agrees Perfectly with the Old Testament Promise of God where the Purpose of God for allowing men’s “Destruction” , Generally toward all men as the phrase “Children of Men” implies is clearly their “Restoration” (afterlife Salvation implied as their Restoration is Post-Destruction, Revelation 21:5) as Mysteriously Echoed in Verse below:

“Thou turnest man to destruction; and sayest, Return, ye children of men.” (Psalm 90:3, KJV)

Probably this is Part of how God Makes All things New again Eventually using the Lake of Fire or Gehenna for this Purpose as well:

“And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” And He said, “Write, for these words are faithful and true.” (Revelation 21:5, NASB)

May God’s Will be Done.

Peace to you

P/S: First Christianity Quotes Proving that the Wicked are Saved from Gehenna/Lake of Fire

We Look for First Christianity Exegesis of this such a Prophecy because we don’t believe in Private Interpretations to Obey this Verse:

“But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation,” – apostle Peter (2 Peter 1:20, NASB)

1) Apocalypse of Elijah

Judgment vs Universalist Hope through the “Prayer Requests of the Righteous”

To quote (from that same source):

“26.The sins of each one will stand against him in the place where they were committed, whether those of the day or of the night.

27.Those who belong to the righteous and … will see the sinners and those who persecuted them and those who handed them over to death in their torments.

28.Then the sinners [ in torment ] will see the place of the righteous.

29.And thus GRACE WILL OCCUR. In THOSE DAYS, that which the RIGHTEOUS will ASK for MANY TIMES WILL BE GIVEN to them.”

Beautifully Mysterious indeed (e. g. The ‘Righteous, His Bride’ asking for the ‘thirsty’ —-> who are most likely those from the ‘fire that is not quenched’ —> to be Given the WATER of LIFE FREELY eventually, Revelations 22:17).

The “righteous” NEVER THIRST again, to quote (from the same source):

” 5.Then Gabriel and Uriel will become a pillar of light leading them into the holy land.

6.It will be granted to them to eat from the TREE of LIFE. They will wear white garments…and angels will watch over them. They will NOT THIRST, nor will the son of lawlessness be able to prevail over them.”

What is the Apocalypse of Elijah or also known as the Apocalypse of Elias?

To quote:

“The Apocalypse of Elijah is an anonymous apocryphal work presenting itself as a revelation given by an angel. Two versions are known today, a Coptic Christian fragmentary version and a Hebrew Jewish version. The title derives from mentions of Elijah within the text, although there is no other reason to assume that he is meant to be the author.”

Source:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apocalypse_of_Elijah

How serious was the Apocalypse of Elijah considered in First Christianity?

To quote:

“This apocalypse is mentioned in the Apostolic Constitutions, the List of the Sixty Books, the Synopsis of Pseudo-Athanasius, the Stichometry of Nicephorus, and the Armenian list of Mechithar. Origen, Ambrosiaster, and Euthalius ascribe First Epistle to the Corinthians 2:9 to it:”

and

“If they are right, the apocalypse is pre-Pauline. The peculiar form in which this quotation appears in Clement of Alexandria, Protrepticus x. 94, and the Apostolic Constitutions vii. 32, shows that both have the same source, probably this apocalypse. Epiphanius ascribes to this work Eph. 5:14:”

also

“The Jewish version of the Apocalypse of Elijah was published by Adolf Jellinek in 1855 and Moses Buttenwieser in 1897. Theodor Zahn assigns this apocalypse to the 2nd century A.D. but other scholars reject such an early date. The two extant versions are thought to be derived from the same original, which would be the one quoted by Paul the Apostle. The Coptic version has been Christianized and the Hebrew version abridged.”

2) Apocalypse of Peter

From Page 535 of the ‘Lost Orthodoxy’ Book:

To Quote from the ‘Apocalypse of Peter’ itself regarding these Rarely Known Truths, please consider:

“There is a great deal more of the Ethiopic text, but it is very evidently of later date; the next words are: Next: ‘ The Father hath committed all judgement unto the Son.’ The destiny of sinners -their eternal [AGE-DURING] doom- is more than Peter can endure: he appeals to Christ to have pity on them.

And my Lord answered me and said to me: ‘Hast thou understood that which I said unto thee before? It is permitted unto thee to know that concerning which thou askest: but thou must not tell that which thou hearest unto the sinners lest they transgress the more, and sin.’

Peter weeps many hours, and is at last consoled by an answer which, though exceedingly diffuse and vague does seem to promise ultimate pardon for all: ‘My Father will give unto them all the life, the glory, and the kingdom that passeth not away,’ . . . ‘It is because of them that have believed in Me that I am come. It is also because of them that have believed in Me, that, at their word, I shall have pity on men.’

The doctrine that sinners will be saved at last by the prayers of the righteous is, rather obscurely, enunciated in the Second Book of the Sibylline Oracles (a paraphrase, in this part, of the Apocalypse), and in the (Coptic) Apocalypse of Elias (see post).

Ultimately Peter orders Clement to hide this revelation in a box, that foolish men may not see it. The passage in the Second Book of the Sibylline Oracles which seems to point to the ultimate salvation of all sinners will be found in the last lines of the translation given below.

Note: This Salvation of the Wicked post Lake of Fire Judgment is clearly revealed in the ‘Sibyline Oracles’ or the ‘Apocalypse of Peter’ & ‘Apocalypse of Elias (Elijah)’. Note that the ‘Apocalpyse of Peter’ is endorsed by the ‘First Muratorian Cannon’. However, it is not certain whether this refers to the Greek Apocalypse of Peter or the quite different Coptic Apocalypse of Peter, the latter of which, unlike the former, was Gnostic. So, scholars downplay the Books which do not agreeing to their doctrine which is normal human behavior (questioning and questioning without realizing that the church fathers they quote do not seem to have a definitive ‘first Christianity book’ to interpret these prophesies apart from their own private interpretations – can you see the difference?).

In case you didn’t know, the ‘Apocalypse of Peter’ is the First Known afterlife Revelation in First Christianity (for example) and the Sibyline Oracles were Received unanimously across all of First Christianity, as described in a little detail at the end of this Post.

3) Sibyline Oracles – apostle Paul & St. Justin Martyr told us to Read it

Really?

To quote:

SIBYL and HYSTASPES – Mystery of what actually did Hystaspes Say?

To Quote (in the Context of Christian Theology – I quote Justin Martyr and Clement of Alexandria below):

The following texts refer to Hystaspes and may thus be quoted with confidence as excerpts from the oracles of Hystaspes:

(1) Justin Martyr (ca. 150 C.E.), Apology I, 20, 1 (ed. J. K. Th. von Otto, p. 62; cf. Bidez and Cumont, II, p. 361), Greek: “And both the Sibyl and Hystaspes have said that the extermination of the corrupt will happen by fire.”

(2) Clement of Alexandria (ca. 190 C.E.), Stromata VI, 5, 1 (ed. O. Stählin, p. 453; cf. Bidez and Cumont, II, pp. 362-63), Greek, quoting an apocryphal speech by Paul: “Grasp also the Hellenic books, recognize the Sibyl more perfectly . . . , and grasp and read Hystaspes, and you will find the Son of God described much more distinctly and clearly, and how against Christ many kings will fight, hating him and those who bear his name, and his followers, and the suffering [of Christ] and his coming.”

Sibyline Oracles – as apostle Paul himself told to read this as Clement of Alexandria quotes (‘Verbal Command’ – in Principle of 2 Thessalonians 2:15)

To Quote (Page 276 – 277 from the ‘Lost Orthodoxy’ Book):

Is Clement of Alexandria mentioning a Secret that apostle Paul tried to say in regards to Hystaspes when he writes, ‘quoting an apocryphal speech by Paul’?

Is that why Justin Martyr (knowing this) also quotes Hystaspes in a ‘Universal Salvation’ manner —-> saying, ‘extermination of the corrupt will happen by fire’ —> which refers to the extermination of the ‘corrupt’ (sin & evil) —> as even the SIBYL quoted together in the above obviously taught Universal Salvation (proving this Context Stronger), to quote:

“… for a long day will God make.

And to the pious will the almighty God

405 Imperishable grant another thing,

When they shall ask the imperishable God:

That he will suffer men from raging fire

And endless gnawing anguish to be saved;

And this will he do. For hereafter he

410 Will pluck them from the restless flame, elsewhere

Remove them, and for his own people’s sake

Send them to other and eternal life

With the immortals, in Elysian field,” (Sibyline Oracles, Book II, 297-322, p. 51)

I repeat, with emphasis from Page 277 of the ‘Lost Orthodoxy’ Book:

“… for a long day will God make.

And to the pious will the Almighty God

405 Imperishable grant another thing,

When they shall ask the imperishable God:

That He [God] will suffer [SAVE] men from RAGING FIRE

And ENDLESS GNAWING ANGUISH to be SAVED;

And THIS WILL HE [God] DO. For hereafter He [God]

410 Will PLUCK THEM [Wicked] from the RESTLESS FLAME, elsewhere REMOVE THEM [Wicked, the ‘thirsty’ from the ‘Lake of Fire’], and for His own people’s sake [His Bride, Revelation 22:17] Send them to OTHER [Outside Regions of the Kingdom of the Heavens, Matthew 5:19] and eternal [AGE -DURING, Fulfilling John 17:2 toward ALL MEN or ALL FLESH or ALL HUMANITY] life With the Immortals [Revelation 20:4 – 6], in Elysian field,” (Sibyline Oracles, Book II, 297-322, p. 51)

4) Can the Wicked be Converted as Children to be Saved?

Yes, to quote:

Here is a rarely known Secret:

Even the ‘wicked’ (the “enemies”) will one day submit back to God post-afterlife Judgments (1 Corinthians 15:24 – 28) and be ‘converted’ like children too as per this Ancient Rarely known Orthodox Quote from a king of Christian Theology:

Here is the Mystery of the Twelve Bells on Christ’s High Priesthood Garment: The Gospel will be Preached throughout the “World” by the “Apostles” literally including the afterlife regions (as the Shepherd of Hermas Scripture – endorsed even by St. Irenaeous of Lyons as Scripture – Quotes above) toward the end that even the “Wicked” becomes like a “child” (Post-Judgment and Gospel acceptance – in the afterlife, – the word being made “Subject” implies this irrefutably in the ‘Context of All His Enemies, e. g. 1 Corinthians 15:24 – 28’ too) – Says who?

To quote, another Orthodox First Christianity Quote Revealing this Mystery:

“Moreover, the prescription that twelve bells be attached to the [robe] of the high priest, which hung down to the feet, was a symbol of the twelve apostles, who depend on the power of Christ, the eternal Priest; and through their voice it is that all the earth has been filled with the glory and grace of God and of His Christ. Wherefore David also says: ‘Their sound has gone forth into all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world.’ … But when the passage speaks as from the lips of many, ‘We have preached before Him,’ and adds, ‘as if a child,’ it signifies that the wicked shall become subject to Him, and shall obey His command, and that all shall become as one child…” – St. Justin Martyr (100 AD – 160 AD, Dialogue with Trypho, CHAPTER XLII)

5) Certain Orthodox Jewish Perspective Agrees to this

To Quote:

1) Gehenna Revealed as a Metaphor (or analogy) as an afterlife punishment region in Old Testament times

Example – the Targums

The ancient Aramaic paraphrase-translations of the Hebrew Bible known as Targums supply the term “Gehinnom” frequently to verses touching upon resurrection, judgment, and the fate of the wicked. This may also include addition of the phrase “second death”, as in the final chapter of the Book of Isaiah, where the Hebrew version does not mention either Gehinnom or the Second Death, whereas the Targums add both. In this the Targums are parallel to the Gospel of Mark addition of “Gehenna” to the quotation of the Isaiah verses describing the corpses “where their worm does not die”.[20]

Example – Rabbinical Judaism

The picture of Gehenna as the place of punishment or destruction of the wicked occurs frequently in the Mishnah in Kiddushin 4.14, Avot 1.5; 5.19, 20, Tosefta t. Bereshith 6.15, and Babylonian Talmud b.Rosh Hashanah 16b:7a; b. Bereshith 28b. Gehenna is considered a Purgatory-like place where the wicked go to suffer until they have atoned for their sins. It is stated that the maximum amount of time a sinner can spend in Gehenna is one year. There are also four people who do not get a share in Olam Ha-Ba.[21] Those people are Doeg the Edomite, Ahitophel, Balaam, and Gehazi.

Source:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gehenna

(vi) If their concept of Gehenna is wrong, Christ wouldn’t have mentioned it.

But does it mean that Rabbinical Judaism got the facts regarding Gehenna right?

The Rabbinical writings contain some truth but they missed some part of it.

That’s why when Lord Jesus Christ spoke of Gehenna, He is referring to what they know but corrected their understanding of it and revealed more details as it is Written in New Testament verses.

Some ‘secrets’ regarding Gehenna in the Context of Universal Reconciliation in Christ (Colossians 1:16, Colossians 1:20) may only be known through His Prophets (or Saints) as Amos 3:7 mentions in New Testament times (Colossians 1:26). Yes, the secrets revealed in New Testament times includes the fact that the ‘Gentiles are co-heirs in Christ’ (Colossians 1:27) and that God Will Reconcile All Created things (Colossians 1:16) back to Himself too eventually (Colossians 1:20) as the Context of Consecutive Verses in Colossians implies irrefutably as it is Written Majestically in Holy Scripture as well.

More?

Secrets from the Wise Jews may be seen as follows:

(i) What’s the Difference between Gehenna and Sheol (Hades)?

To quote (Page 34):

“Hanhart (1966:32) states that according to Jeremias, however, it is fundamental

for our understanding of the New Testament to make a sharp distinction between Hades

and Gehenna.

Hades is used exclusively for the interim period, Gehenna on the other side

for a state of punishment after the last judgment. In Hades, the punishment is provisional, in Gehenna eternal.”

(ii) Can the Messiah [Lord Jesus Christ] Save from Gehenna (the Final Judgment, Lake of Fire) itself?

To quote (Page 38):

“Bernard (1915:290) quotes two passages from the Bereshith Rabba to show that this idea was prominent in Jewish literature. He is, however, unsure of the dating of the literature.

Nevertheless, it still demonstrates the basic purpose of the descent:

‘When they are bound, they that are in Gehinnom, saw the light of the Messiah, they

rejoiced to receive him’; and ‘This is that which stands written, We shall rejoice and exult thee.

When?

When the captives climb out of hell, and the Shechinah at their head.’

The only difference here is that the captives are in Gehinnom and not Sheol.”

P/S: Earliest Orthodox Church Leaders (example) – Regarding Gehenna/Lake of Fire

In other Translations:

“But I say to you … shall be guilty enough to go into the fiery hell [GEHENNA-LAKE of FIRE]… Truly I say to you, you will NOT COME OUT of there UNTIL you have PAID up the LAST CENT.” – Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 5:22, 26, NASB)

“but I — I say to you, … shall be in danger of the judgment, … shall be in danger of the GEHENNA of the FIRE … verily I say to thee, thou mayest NOT come forth thence TILL that thou mayest PAY the LAST FARTHING.” – Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 5:22, 26, YLT)

Did First Christianity Preach that the Lake of Fire is NOT eternal and it Serves as a Purifying Purpose too for the Sake of being SAVED from there by Christ (Revelation 21:5, 8, 22:17) toward RENEWAL too (Romans 8:20 – 22)?

Yes, to quote from a recent Post – Who?:

St. Justin Martyr and St. Clement of Alexandria.

Really?

Yes. In fact, both of them quote these same passage from ‘Greek Philosophy’ in the Context of the ‘part they got right’ as follows (please compare and see ‘how identical’ they each quote & believe this same passage’ in the Context of the ‘Lake of Fire’):

  1. St. Justin Martyr

“Then further concerning Him, that He alone is powerful, both to institute judgment on the deeds performed in life, and on the ignorance of the Deity [displayed by men], I can adduce witnesses from your own ranks; and first Sophocles, who speaks as follows:

That time of times shall come, shall surely come,

When from the golden ether down shall fall

Fire’s teeming treasure, and in burning flames

All things of earth and heaven shall be consumed;

And then, when all creation is dissolved,

The sea’s last wave shall die upon the shore,

The bald earth stript of trees, the burning air

No winged thing upon its breast shall bear.

There are two roads to Hades, well we know;

By this the righteous, and by that the bad,

On to their separate fates shall tend; and He,

Who all things had destroyed, shall all things save.” – St. Justin Martyr (CHAPTER 3, Testimonies to a future judgment, On the Sole Government of God)

I repeat with emphasis (please note that ‘all that is destroyed in this Lake of Fire (Revelation 21:5) will be Restored or Made New’, Revelation 21:5):

” and He, Who ALL THINGS had DESTROYED, shall ALL THINGS SAVE” – St. Justin Martyr

Can you see now that St. Justin Martyr himself believed in Universal Salvation in quote above irrefutably that the ‘same ALL CREATED THINGS’ (Colossians 1:16) which is DESTROYED in the LAKE of FIRE (Revelation 21:8) will be MADE NEW (Revelation 21:5) and SAVED (Colossians 1:20), yes toward ALL CREATION eventually (Romans 8:20 – 22). Though the Whole World may be engulfed in the Fire from the Lake of Fire, ‘believers (Sheepfold1)’ cannot be harmed in any way by this “Second Death” (Revelation 20:4 – 6, Revelation 2:11).

  1. St. Clement of Alexandria

Lord Jesus Christ Saves even from Hades now to the Final Lake of Fire (Gehenna)

“… There is an eye of justice, which sees all. For two ways, as we deem, to Hades lead- One for the good, the other for the bad. But if the earth hides both for ever, then Go plunder, steal, rob, and be turbulent. But err not. For in Hades judgment is, Which God the Lord of all will execute, Whose name too dreadful is for me to name, Who gives to sinners length of earthly life. If any mortal thinks, that day by day, While doing ill, he eludes the gods keen sight, His thoughts are evil; and when justice has The leisure, he shall then detected be So thinking. Look, whoe’er you be that say That there is not a God. There is, there is. If one, by nature evil, evil does, Let him redeem the time; for such as he Shall by and by due punishment receive.” And with this agrees the tragedy in the following lines: “For there shall come, shall come that point of time, When Ether, golden-eyed, shall ope its store Of treasured fire; and the devouring flame, Raging, shall burn all things on earth below, And all above.” . . .And after a little he adds: “And when the whole world fades, And vanished all the abyss of ocean’s waves, And earth of trees is bare; and wrapt in flames, The air no more begets the winged tribes; Then He who all destroyed, shall all restore.” – – St. Clement of Alexandria (c.150 AD – c. 215 AD, Stromata, Book 5)

A Grand Conclusion

Firstly, A Common Objection

‘The oracles may have been accepted by various Christians does not make them authoritative. There were all sorts of heresies that many Christians believed – but that didn’t make them true. If the oracles were authoritative, God would have assured their inclusion in the canon of scripture. Otherwise, we’re all free to add any mixed bag of nonsense that happens to tickle our fancy: Mormon, JWs, New Age, you name it. Who is to say what you’ve embraced is any more authoritative than what anyone else has decided to mingle with scripture, or replace scripture with? Without an anchor for what is authoritative, anything goes.’

Reply

Sibyline oracles has more credence than following church leaders private interpretation and it was accepted in First Christianity (1st to 3rd century) before man made teachings interpreted the Lake of Fire Revelation 22:17 differently.

It’s authoritative as even the eternal Hell commentator on it in the early century acknowledges that passage & denies its content by condemning Origen of Alexandria explicitly to teach it.

So, in the own commentator as preserved by the eternal hell camp thereafter, clearly endorses both the Sibyline Oracle and that passage as authentic but just denies the plain meaning.

Please read carefully in Image or in translation source below (see Point 8).

Later councils only endorsed things worthy to be in the Bible but that does not mean that they denied other Christian writings such as the Shepherd of Hermas and Sibyline oracles are ‘certainly endorsed’ (never been denied by any church council).

They just believe their own interpretations instead of what’s plainly written.

Why the Unbelief ?

Why majority of Christians AFTER the First Christianity period (1st to 3rd Century) cease to believe it?

Explanation:

Please note that this is a commentary added and NOT part of the original Oracle as quoted prior

404-416.–This passage, which savors of a final restoration from future punishment, has been thought to be contrary to orthodox teaching; and we find appended to some manuscripts the following lines, headed, “Contradiction of the ‘To the pious will the Almighty,'” and professedly a disproof of the doctrine of Origen on this subject:

False manifestly; for the penal fire

Shall never cease from those who are condemned.

For also I might pray to have it thus,

Branded with greatest scars of trespasses,

Which need more kindness. But let Origen

Of his presumptuous babble be ashamed,

Saying there shall be end of punishments.

  1. Elysian field.–In Homer (Od., iv, 563) the Elysian fields are represented as situated on the western border of the earth by the ocean stream. Hesiod (Works and Days, 169) speaks of “the Isles of the blessed, beside {footnote p. 52} deep-eddying ocean.” But later, and with the Roman poets, Elysium was in the lower world, the blessed part of Hades, and is here conceived as bordering on the Acheronian lake.]

Conclusion

You are choosing to believe the commentator who though against that passage but endorses it as First Christianity’s Truth while we believe it as it is Written .

Well, the infamous passages from St. Augustine himself reveals that Universalism was the majority doctrine in his own place before eternal hell became dominant over sweeping down the carpet the authority of First Christianity passages such as above, to quote

Augustine (354-430 A.D.), ‘one of the four great Latin Church Fathers (Augustine, Ambrose, Jerome and Gregory the Great), wrote:

“There are very many in our day, who though not denying the Holy Scriptures, do not believe in endless torments.”

Augustine’s Eternal Hell Exegesis, to quote:

‘It is quite in vain, then, that some–indeed very many–yield to merely human feelings and deplore the notion of the eternal punishment of the damned and their interminable and perpetual misery. They do not believe that such things will be. Not that they would go counter to divine Scripture–but, yielding to their own human feelings, they soften what seems harsh and give a milder emphasis to statements they believe are meant more to terrify than to express the literal truth. “God will not forget,” they say, “to show mercy, nor in his anger will he shut up his mercy.” This is, in fact, the text of a holy psalm.237 But there is no doubt that it is to be interpreted to refer to those who are called “vessels of mercy,”238 those who are freed from misery not by their own merits but through God’s mercy. Even so, if they suppose that the text applies to all men, there is no ground for them further to suppose that there can be an end for those of whom it is said, “Thus these shall go into everlasting punishment.”239 Otherwise, it can as well be thought that there will also be an end to the happiness of those of whom the antithesis was said: “But the righteous into life eternal.’

Is Augustine calling such Universal Salvation in Christ believers as heretics?

No, certainly not.

Augustine didn’t call them heretics, but those who endorsed Scripture (his phrase “who though not denying the Holy Scriptures,”) but yet did NOT believe in eternal Hell (his phrase: “do not believe in endless torments”).

Augustine’s mistake is to limit God’s Mercy toward vessels of mercy because it is clearly written in Holy Scripture to be promised to “All” and not Christians only (in Romans 11:32 as the Conclusion of All Judgment of God) in the context of including both the ‘obedient and disobedient eventually’ (Romans 11:30 – 31, Consecutive Verses prior, ‘Proper Context as apostle Paul himself used it).

Please note carefully that though the Sentence be ‘eternal’ , God’s Mercy is Promised to “All” eventually (Romans 11:30 – 32, 1 Timothy 2:6) causing ‘any Judgment Sentence to be Triumphed Over Rejoicingly (i. e. ‘Cancelled’, James 2:13) yielding the ‘Final Reconciliation from the Lake of Fire even’ (Revelation 22:17) as the Sibyline Oracles Clearly Prophesy in Book II as explained prior as well.

Also, the Sibyline oracle part shows that you are believing the commentator (who has his ‘own interpretation’ against what is plainly written) while we believe the content as it is Written as per First Christianity.

Please notice also carefully (in point 8 above) that the eternal Hell commentator endorses the Universal Salvation passage in Sibyline Oracles Book II to be authentic but just doesn’t believe what’s plainly written. Can you see it?

Peace to you

P/S: How do I see the Sibyline Oracles matching the Bibllical Prophecies?

Please consider the key prophecies demonstrated in the post below with possible Verse matching for further edification:

https://www.anonymouschristian.org/blog/sibyline-oracles-mystery-match-with-bible-verses-perfectly-last-prophecies/

So, two things are clear: We are not doing any private interpretation and we are believing in First Christianity. Can you quote the same for Eternal Hell without using ‘latter church fathers’ but the earliest ones and using only the ‘first endorsed Christian writings’ as we quoted from this same timeline?

You will be “surprised” at ‘how late’ and ‘less orthodox scholars’ that will be quoted by ‘such scholars’ though ‘numerous due to the latter advancement of the eternal hell or annihilation theology’. Also, this proves that the ‘eternal hell’ sentence can be Cancelled by God (James 2:13) as “Mercy to All the Disobedient” eventually (Romans 11:32).

Can you really see it?.

I repeat something from an earlier post for your kind Consideration:

Righteous Ones are Givers

I want to say a Big Thank You to God Who has used some people in my life (you know who you are) who have Given Graciously toward me or more accurately to causes which I have requested regardless if it turned out to be true or not because you have fulfilled these Verses:

“Bear one another’s burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ.” – apostle Paul (Galatians 6:2, NASB)

“Treat others the same way you want them to treat you.” – Lord Jesus Christ (Luke 6:31, NASB)

“The wicked borrows and does not pay back, But the righteous is gracious and gives.” (Psalm 37:21, NASB)

“But love your enemies, … and lend, expecting nothing in return; …” – Lord Jesus Christ (Luke 6:35, NASB)

Conclusion – Why Should you?

Even if it turned out to be a money scam, you fulfilled the Verse below toward such “enemies” where “you gave without hoping anything in return” toward the “evil and ungrateful too” fulfilling the Perfection Command Regarding our God (the hardest commands) in some little way, Congratulations! (Please read the Verse below ‘carefully’ to realize this – Can you see it?)

So, A Reward Beyond this World awaits thee by God’s Grace I pray for you, Amen:

“But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men.” – Lord Jesus Christ (Luke 6:35, NASB)

Or in another translation:

“But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for He is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.” – Lord Jesus Christ (Luke 6:35, KJV)

Peace to you

Love – Agape – Highest Spiritual Growth – Love Your Enemies

Why?

Loving those who love us back is easiest and vice versa.

How to love your enemies?

Verses:

“26What sorrow awaits you who are praised by the crowds, for their ancestors also praised false prophets.

27“But to you who are willing to listen, I say, love your enemies! Do good to those who hate you. 28Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you. 29If someone slaps you on one cheek, offer the other cheek also. If someone demands your coat, offer your shirt also. 30Give to anyone who asks; and when things are taken away from you, don’t try to get them back. 31Do to others as you would like them to do to you.

32“If you love only those who love you, why should you get credit for that? Even sinners love those who love them! 33And if you do good only to those who do good to you, why should you get credit? Even sinners do that much! 34And if you lend money only to those who can repay you, why should you get credit? Even sinners will lend to other sinners for a full return.

35“Love your enemies! Do good to them. Lend to them without expecting to be repaid. Then your reward from heaven will be very great, and you will truly be acting as children of the Most High, for he is kind to those who are unthankful and wicked. 36You must be compassionate, just as your Father is compassionate.” – Lord Jesus Christ (Luke 6:26 – 36, NLT)

Conclusion

Please note two points below:

1) Christ taught “Love your enemies” (Verses 27 – 36) just after warning against against “false prophets” (Verse 26) implying that false prophets teach otherwise, right?

2) His opening lines toward this Teaching proves the Difficulty in many obeying it because He says in Verse 27:

“But to you who are willing to listen,…”

In Full:

“But to you who are willing to listen, I say, love your enemies!” – Lord Jesus Christ (Luke 6:27, NLT)

So, are we willing to listen to Him as He asked above?

Since God Counts in Percentage and Intent (as everything is relatively measured to what you’re given), life is fair as the afterlife rewards are proportionally as well. Can you see it?

i) Relative Measure

“… From everyone who has been given much, much will be required; and to whom they entrusted much, of him they will ask all the more.” – Lord Jesus Christ (Luke 12:48, NASB)

ii) Percentage

“1As Jesus looked up, he saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. 2He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. 3“Truly I tell you,” he said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others. 4All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.” – Lord Jesus Christ (Luke 21:1 – 4, NASB)

iii) Intent

“And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.” – apostle Paul (1 Corinthians 13:5, NASB)

In the end, what matters in life is keeping God’s Commands (as much as possible as we decide to by our own choice – same conclusion for both the Old and New Testaments):

Old Testament

“The conclusion, when all has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person.” (Ecclesiastes 12:13, NASB)

New Testament

“Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but what matters is the keeping of the commandments of God.” – apostle Paul (1 Corinthians 7:19, NASB)

Judas – Satan or Friend?

To quote:

But as Christ last words to Judas was “not Satan, Adversary or Enemy” but “Friend”, we ought to “forgive 🙏” them too. Here is the verse which records Christ’s “last words to Judas”:

“Immediately Judas went to Jesus and said, “Hail, Rabbi!” and kissed Him.

And Jesus said to him (Judas), “Friend, do what you have come for.” Then they came and laid hands on Jesus and seized Him.” (Matthew 26:49 – 50, NASB)

Why?

Because Lord Jesus Christ is “Perfect” (Good).

Agape – God’s Love can Save from Hades/Hell

Verse: Psalm 86:13 “literally” (in Image). Please consider these three translations:

New American Standard Bible

For Your lovingkindness toward me is great, And You have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.

New King James Version

For great is Your mercy toward me, And You have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.

King James Bible

For great is thy mercy toward me: and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell.

Can you see it?

King David’s Soul is nowhere near Hell/Hades but he is Speaking “Prophetically” toward those in such a state where God Will Save them in Christ as these Verses are Deeply literal and Allegorical at the same time revealing such Mysteries and Its Fulfillment is by Christ toward such cases as well (Matthew 5:17). Prophets often speak ‘on behalf’ of ‘those being judged’ (be it on earth or as in this case toward those in the afterlife) revealing such Deep Truths as it is the case with King David here.

Conclusion

After His Resurrection, Christ Revealed that ‘more Prophecies’ and things Written about Him in the Prophets and “Psalms” (e.g. the Verse above & in links below) are to be Fulfilled by Him too which clearly Describe Salvation from “Hell” or “Hellish Regions” be it “Hades or Gehenna (implied by Description where no exact name is indicated in some such Prophetic Verses)”.

For Example: The Verses Describing Salvation from “the realm of the dead” (or Sheol/Hades/Hell) ‘literally’ as quoted. Can you really see it ‘as it is Written’?

“Now He [Lord Jesus Christ] said to them, “These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures” (Luke 24:44 – 45, NASB)

“I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.” – Lord Jesus Christ (John 16:12, NASB)

Indeed, God Will Save All Men by His Love/Mercy mostly Post-Afterlife Judgment where believers are exempt from such Judgments (John 5:24) and are more special having repented on earth itself, Verses:

“And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself.” – Lord Jesus Christ (John 12:32, NASB)

“For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.” – apostle Paul (1 Timothy 4:10, KJV)

Perfect High Priest – Loves All

A Beautiful Truth in Image regarding Lord Jesus Christ the Sinless One but yet, He judges none:

The Father Chose not to Judge and Gave Him the Rights to Judge:

But in His Perfect Emulation of the Father, He also chose to Judge none:

“You judge according to the flesh; I am not judging anyone.” – Lord Jesus Christ (John 8:15, NASB)

He then passes the Judgment Rights to “us” (Christians, believers, John 20:23) and “angels” (Hebrews 2:2) where all afterlife Judgment etc. that He executes (John 5:27) is thus ‘on behalf of the Victims’ Demands’ as Matthew 25:31 – 46 as even the other Parables clearly describe this (Matthew 5:21 – 26, including “Gehenna or the Lake of Fire” till the last penny).

Thus the Orthodox First Christianity Quote below makes Perfect Sense as it is believed that St. Clement of Rome literally walked with the apostles of Lord Jesus Christ Himself in person where He clearly Writes that “God the Father has no anger at all toward any of His Creatures” (no matter how much wrong they did to Him or how Wicked they are because Post-Judgment He awaits to Heal them of their Evil and Reconcile All Created Things back to Him, Colossians 1:16, 20):

“… let us look steadfastly unto the Father and Maker of the whole world, and cleave unto His splendid and excellent gifts of peace and benefits. Let us behold Him in our mind, and let us look with the eyes of our soul unto His long-suffering will. Let us note how free from anger He is towards all His creatures.” – St. Clement of Rome* (c. 35 AD – 99 AD, 1 Clement 19:2 – 3)

Translation Source:

http://www.earlychristianwritings.com/text/1clement-lightfoot.html

Focus Phrase proving our claim: “how free from anger He is towards all His creatures”

Indeed, “it is Written”:

“For by Him ALL THINGS were CREATED, both in the heavens and on earth, VISIBLE and INVISIBLE , whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities– all things have been created through Him and for Him… and through Him to RECONCILE ALL THINGS to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven.” – apostle Paul (Colossians 1:16, 20, NASB)

The Verses above are Prophetic (Hebrews 2:8 proves this Context) where “ALL THINGS were CREATED” whether “VISIBLE and INVISIBLE” (certainly includes any Hell) will eventually be “Reconciled”, as it is Written that He Will “RECONCILE ALL THINGS to Himself” till God becomes “All in all” Creation (1 Corinthians 15:24 – 28).

God Alone is Perfect like this (Matthew 5:44 – 48, toward His enemies too) and as All (Rational Creation) have sinned* and fallen short of His Glory of Perfection (Romans 3:23) even if some sinned the ‘sin not leading to death’ (1 John 5:16 – 17).

*Sin = literally means ‘missing the mark’ (of the Perfection of God – Can you see it? It’s not only breaking Commands but also ‘not doing the Good that we can’, James 4:17 to even just not being Perfectly Forgiving like the Father & His Son Lord Jesus Christ, John 5:22, John 8:15).

Church History Example – First Orthodox Christianity:

St. Melito of Sardis

The ‘afterlife keeping in prison’ Post-Judgment awaiting Christ’s Salvation via Preaching of the Gospel has happened in the past (1 Peter 3:18 – 19) toward all as even St. Melito of Sardis clearly revealed proving this Context true toward the ‘future Gehenna Judgment’ as well as 1 Peter 4:5 – 6 implies:

Verses Describing this Parabolically: Mark 3:27 & Matthew 12:29.

First Christianity taught this:

“The Lord, having put on human nature, and having suffered for him who suffered, having been bound for him who was bound, and having been buried for him who was buried, is risen from the dead, and loudly proclaims this message: Who will contend against me? Let him stand before me. It is I who delivered the condemned. It is I who gave life to the dead. It is I who raised up the buried. Who will argue with me? It is I, says Christ, who destroyed death. It is I who triumphed over the enemy, and having trod down HADES, and bound the STRONG MAN, and have SNATCHED MANKIND up to the HEIGHTS of HEAVEN. It is I, says Christ. So then, come here ALL you FAMILIES of MEN, weighed down by your sins and recieve pardon for your misdeeds. For I am your pardon. I am the Passover which brings salvation. I am the Lamb slain for you. I am your lustral bath. I am your life. I am your resurrection. I am your light, I am your salvation, I am your King. It is I who brings you up to the heights of heaven. It is I who will give you the resurrection there. I will show you the Eternal Father. I will raise you up with my own right hand.” – St. Melito, Jewish Bishop of Sardis (Died c. 180 AD, ‘Homily on Pascha’)

Source:

https://www.orthodox.net/pascha/pascha-melito.html

Conclusion

Please note ‘carefully’ also that neither of these quote refers to men of the past alone but “Man” in general (e. g. St. Irenaeous’ uses a two-fold argument to refer to Man and Adam by equivalence being set free from Condemnation* while St. Melito’s quote clearly mentions that Christ brings Salvation to all the families of Mankind in Hades itself) . Yes , even Hades/Sheol is mentioned in St. Melito’s quote. A Deep Mystery Indeed.

There is no despair or lost of Hope beyond afterlife Judgment because Christ has the “Keys” of “Hades” and “Death” setting free anyone even now after Justice or afterlife Judgment is served accordingly to some as the Verses below (from the Bible & Shepherd of Hermas Writing which is Scripture too as endorsed in First Christianity by St. Irenaeous) reads as follows:

“and the Living One; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore [to the ages of Ages**], and I have the keys of death and of Hades.” – Lord Jesus Christ (Revelation 1:18, NASB)

Hell is not God’s Limit according to Many Verses in the Bible

Good God – No Limits to His Grace and Mercy.

“He [Lord Jesus Christ] became what we are so that He might make us what He is.” ― St. Athanasius the Great, a.k.a. the ‘Father of Orthodoxy’

The Gospel is Preached even in Hades (or “Hell”) where the Rich Man was (Luke 16:19 – 31) after Lord Jesus Christ’s Resurrection as the Shepherd of Hermas Reveals as well by His Apostles & Teachers in the afterlife regions, according to the 40 Stone Parable-Mystery (as 1 Peter 4:6 also literally means):

“The Self-revealing of the Word is in every dimension – above, in creation; below, in the Incarnation; in the depth, in Hades; in the breadth, throughout the world. All things have been filled with the knowledge of God.” ― St. Athanasius, On the Incarnation

“For to this end the gospel was proclaimed even to the dead, so that they might be judged indeed according to men in the flesh, but they might live in the spirit according to God.” – apostle Peter (1 Peter 4:6, Berean Literal Bible)

More?

To Quote:

Is this Context Correct?

Yes, according to First Christianity as follows via the Inspired Shepherd of Hermas Scriptural Writing, to quote:

“15[92]:5 “Wherefore, Sir,” say I, “did the forty stones also come up with them from the deep, though they had already received the seal?” “Because,” saith he, “these, the apostles and the teachers who preached the name of the Son of God, after they had fallen asleep in the power and faith of the Son of God, preached also to them that had fallen asleep before them, and themselves gave unto them the seal of the preaching. 15[92]:6 Therefore they went down with them into the water, and came up again. But these went down alive [and again came up alive]; whereas the others that had fallen asleep before them went down dead and came up alive. 15[92]:7 So by their means they were quickened into life, and came to the full knowledge of the name of the Son of God. For this cause also they came up with them, and were fitted with them into the building of the tower and were builded with them, without being shaped; for they fell asleep in righteousness and in great purity. Only they had not this seal. Thou hast then the interpretation of these things also.” “I have, Sir,” say I. 17[94]:1 “Now then, Sir, explain to me concerning the mountains. Wherefore are their forms diverse the one from the other, and various?” “Listen,” saith he. “These twelve mountains are [twelve] tribes that inhabit the whole world. To these (tribes) then the Son of God was preached by the Apostles.” – Shepherd of Hermas

Source:

http://www.earlychristianwritings.com/text/shepherd-lightfoot.html

Though the Verses above speak of the preaching to the Sheepfold2 (non-Christian righteous in the afterlife who have not believed/not received the Seal of God), the last Verse above proves that this “Preaching of the Gospel to the Dead in the afterlife by the Apostles of Christ” applies to “All Twelve Tribes or Mountains which clearly signifies the Races of All Men in some way” proving our claim.

Conclusion – for the Wicked

Source:

http://www.earlychristianwritings.com/text/justinmartyr-dialoguetrypho.html

I repeat the above to highlight that “Preaching of the Gospel somewhere in the world” includes the ‘Conversion of the Wicked too as a child eventually’ (because without being converted like little children, no one can be in the kingdom of heaven – Matthew 18:3, though these may be the least due to breaking His Commandments as Matthew 5:19 agrees Perfectly to this Exegesis – Can you see it?):

Do you realize that since the Gospel is Preached to the Dead in the afterlife and causes conversion post-afterlife-Judgment (1 Peter 4:6) by the “Apostles”, this makes the Apostles of Christ themselves the ‘highest soul winners of all time’ (Proverbs 11:30)?

Hence, the Names of the Twelve Apostles of the Lamb (where the Replacement for Judas is most likely being Apostle Paul and not Matthias) is thus Written on the Foundation of that Great City which Will Descend from Heaven when Lord Jesus Christ Returns One Day:

“And the wall of the city had twelve foundation stones, and on them were the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.” – apostle John (Revelation 21:14, NASB)

Truly, He is the “Saviour of ALL MEN eventually but believers are more special” & are we supposed to teach this as Christians? Please consider these Verses below:

“It is a TRUSTWORTHY statement DESERVING FULL ACCEPTANCE . For it is for this we labor and strive, because we have fixed our hope on the LIVING GOD , who is the SAVIOR of ALL MEN, ESPECIALLY of BELIEVERS. Prescribe and TEACH THESE THINGS.” – apostle Paul (1 Timothy 4:9 – 11, NASB)
