Who is the best theologian?
Many Christians would instantly be tempted to answer, “the Devil” (wrong answer).
Correct answer: Christ’s Disciples (and true believers too)
Proof?
Consider these points:
(i) God is not a Theologian because ‘Theology is the Knowledge about Him’.
(ii) Satan’s usage of Scripture against Lord Jesus Christ during His temptation was awfully ‘prosperity-aimed’ (‘turn bread to stone to feed hunger’, ‘not a stone will dash Your foot since His angels will guard you’ & ‘I’ll give you all the world…’)
Now, —> Doesn’t that sound like the ‘prosperity Gospel’ (context) in the quoting of Scripture such as ‘no harm’ shall ever come upon you or that you shall ‘never suffer’? (Think carefully)
(iii) Scripture reveals the truth that Christ’s disciples (and believers too) will be the ‘best theologians’ because the Spirit of Truth will “teach them all things” (into ‘all the truth’ about God):
“and when He may come — the Spirit of truth — He will guide you to all the truth, for He will not speak from Himself, but as many things as He will hear He will speak, and the coming things He will tell you;” – Lord Jesus Christ (John 16:13)
(iv) Scripture also reveals the truth that Christ’s disciples (and believers too) will be the ‘best theologians’ because the Holy Spirit also “bring to remembrance” (all that Jesus has taught):
“and the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My Name, He will teach you all things, and remind you of all things that I said to you.” – Lord Jesus Christ (John 14:26)
(v) Lastly, Christ’s true disciples will be the ‘best theologians’ simply because their “adversaries” (or opponents) will ‘not’ be able to ‘contradict nor refute’ their (theological) ‘answers’ (winning answers):
“For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict.” – Lord Jesus Christ (Luke 21:15)
P/S:
Do you ‘really’ have the anointing of the Holy Spirit?
Then you would need ‘no one to teach you’ (as you mature in Christ) but rather will confirm & edify the “same” doctrine of Christ:
“As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him.” – apostle John (1 John 2:27)
How about ‘signs & wonders’?
It’s hard to tell since this is the most ‘unreliable sign’ (for example, consider the verse below —> note that even the ‘lawless one’ or the ‘antichrist’ and ‘false Christs’ or false prophets will all perform ‘signs & wonders’ [their common gift] instead of ‘knowledge & wisdom’):
“For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.” – Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 24:24)
“The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie,” – apostle Paul (2 Thessalonians 2:9)
In short, it’s very clear that these ‘false’ ones will deceive by ‘signs & wonders’ and not by ‘knowledge & wisdom’ as so plainly written in Holy Scripture.
P/S 2:
If reading and learning was ‘not’ important, God would not have let His Word to be preserved in Writing (instead of oral traditions only) and the Bible wouldn’t have been so thick if truth was not deep.
