Rich Men Insults vs God’s Chosen Poor

Be careful in “how you treat the poor” and “what you say about them”.

I have heard quite a number of “insults” toward the “poor” by “rich men” especially in “mocking the poor’s attitude for being the reason they’re such”.

What these “rich men” fail to understand is that “being poor” or “not putting initiative to become rich” is “not” a sin but a choice.

Therefore, the “rich” have “no” right to condemn any poor who chooses to remain such.

For example, the famous quote below by a rich man, is certainly “insulting” the “poor”:

“If you are born poor it’s not your fault but if you die poor it’s your fault”

Fact is, “getting rich” is “not” one of the “goals of a Christian” in the Bible.

Another fact is, it’s “not” a fault to be “born poor” or to “remain poor”.

God is “not” going to ask you on Judgment Day: “Why you failed in becoming rich?”

Thus, the rich man who “insulted” the “poor” (by stating that it’s “their fault” if they remain such) has “reproached the Maker, God Himself” as it is written:

“He who mocks the poor taunts his Maker; He who rejoices at calamity will not go unpunished.” (Proverbs 17:5)

So, let’s see “how your earthly riches” will help you on that Great Day when you shall give account before the Almighty One.

Note also that the Bible “never” mocks the “poor” for “being poor” or “remaining poor”. The Bible mocks bad attitude such as being “lazy”, yes.

We all know that some people such as farm workers and construction workers are both the poorest & most hardworking among us.

Maybe that rich man shall “hear” an “equivalent insult” back to “his own comment above” as below:

“It’s not your fault if you were born Hellbound but it’s certainly your fault if you go to Hell one day after you die”

As our Blessed Lord remarks the following (even toward a faithful, God’s law obeying rich man):

“And Jesus said to His disciples, “Truly I say to you, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 19:23)

It’s quite the case that when you “fight or insult” the “poor”, you may end up fighting “against God Himself”. Good luck.

There’s no such thing that it was just a “simple error” in remark and stuff because a Verse (God’s Word) is strongly against any such “comment / insult against the poor”.

P/S:

Being “born poor” may actually be a “gift” (as the verse below describes as “God’s Chosen”) since you’re in a “better state” to “receive the following election” by Grace for those “financially poor believers”:

“Listen, my beloved brethren: did not God choose the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him?” – apostle James (James 2:5)
