Hell – Is Body, Soul and Spirit destroyed there?

No,  only body + soul or the flesh is destroyed in Hell (Matthew 10:28) while the ‘spirit’ will live thereafter according to the Will of God (1 Peter 4:6) post afterlife Judgments (1 Peter 4:5 – 6) when Mercy triumphs over it (James 2:13, Romans 11:32).

Body,  Soul and Spirit are distinct as 1 Thessalonians 5:23 mentions each separately in the same verse proving this Biblical distinction though they may be overlaps. No exact Biblical definition exists for the details.

Please note that after their time in afterlife “prison” (‘Hell’), Christ preached to these ‘spirits’ after their body + soul are destroyed in (‘Hell’) as mentioned in 1 Peter 3:18 – 20, (the first occurrence of this and not the only occurrence) agreeing to Matthew 10:28 too.

*the dead in 1 Peter 4:6 to whom the Gospel is Preached is the “same” dead as mentioned to be judged in afterlife Judgments in 1 Peter 4:5 which is clearly understood in proper context with no manipulations of any kind proving that The Gospel is Preached even to “the dead”.

Remember, the Rich man and Lazarus part highlights what men or other creation could not do (the problem)  and Lord Jesus Christ is the Solution since —-> for example, the “chasm which no one can cross” —-> Lord Jesus Christ Crossed and even preached to the spirits in prison and they don’t remain disobedient anymore (e. g. proven by the phrase “once were disobedient”, NASB or “sometime were disobedient” in KJV or “past were disobedient” in CSB or “who sometime disbelieved” in YLT for the verse in 1 Peter 3:20).

Yes, I believe that king Cyrus of Persia (Isaiah 44:28, Isaiah 45:1) was used by God to do an earthly deliverance of the Israelites in the past after he was stirred in “Righteousness” to let the prisoners or exiles go free —> “Without any payment or reward” (Isaiah 44:13) —-> which I believe the allegorical meaning for Isaiah 44:13 points to Lord Jesus Christ setting the “prisoners free” from ‘Hell’ (afterlife Judgments regions of Sheol/Hades, e. g.  1 Peter 3:18 – 20, Zechariah 9:11) as God’s Perfect Will is such as the verse below in Isaiah 42:7 which prophesies —-> regarding Lord Jesus Christ or the Messiah’s Great Work in this aspect —-> which is so clearly seen,  agreeing to all these:

“To open blind eyes, To bring out prisoners from the dungeon And those who dwell in darkness from the prison” (Isaiah 42:7, NASB)

Yes,  Lord Jesus Christ sets them free from the Afterlife Prison or Dungen (‘Hell’) “not for price, and nor for a reward” as Isaiah 44:13 clearly implies allegorically! He is such a Perfect Saviour, Blessed be His Holy Name!

Please note that it is ‘Lucifer’ (Isaiah 14:12) who did “who did not allow his prisoners to go home” (Isaiah 14:17, NASB) as allegorically implied in these verses. Thus Satan’s will is eternal Hell (to keep his prisoners to remain there while God’s Will is to free them). Isn’t it clear?

Indeed,  God cannot change from being a Prison Shaking Saviour Who sets the Prisoners free:

“To hear the groaning of the prisoner, To set free those who were doomed to death,” (Psalm 102:20, NASB)

He has Done it in the Past, He Will always be Doing it again at “anytime as He Wills” since He is Risen:

“While the devil thought to kill One [Christ], he is deprived of all those cast out of hades, and he [the devil] sitting by the gates, sees all fettered beings led forth by the courage of the Saviour”.–Athanasius, the Great Father of Orthodoxy

“Our Lord descends, and was shut up in the eternal (aionion, more correctly, age-during) bars, in order that He might set free all who had been shut up… The Lord descended to the place of punishment and torment, in which was the rich man, in order to liberate the prisoners.” –Jerome of the Vulgate

“In the liberation of all no one remains a captive! At the time of the Lord’s passion the devil alone was injured by losing all the of the captives he was keeping. –Didymus the Blind, 370 AD

“While the devil imagined that he got a hold of Christ, he really lost all of those he was keeping.” –St. Chrysostom, 398 AD
