The minister is ‘right’ in the article (link below):
Here are the verses proving it:
(i) Christians are forbidden to Judge Non-Christians only
“What business of mine is it to judge those outside the church (non-Christians)? Are you not to judge those inside (Christians ONLY)?” (1 Corinthians 5:12, BLB)
So, NO Pastor or whoever has a right to judge the Non-Christians from the pulpit by sharing “politics” regardless if the rulers are right or wrong!
(ii) Government authority is by God too
“Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God.
Therefore whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves.
For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same;
for it is a minister of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a minister of God, an avenger who brings wrath on the one who practices evil.
Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of wrath, but also for conscience’ sake.” (Romans 13:1 – 5, NASB)
(iii) Christians who still choose to disobey this command to submit to the government will not be applauded as heroes by God, but rather stand “condemned”
“Therefore whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves.” (Romans 13:2, NASB)
(iv) Christians must pay their taxes correctly
“For because of this you also pay taxes, for rulers are servants of God, devoting themselves to this very thing.
Render to all what is due them: tax to whom tax is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor.” (Romans 13:6 – 7, NASB)
Please remember that apostle Paul wrote these “command from God” toward Christians who must obey an “oppressing – Christian killing – Roman government”.
Please understand that the Malaysian government gave us freedom to practice Christianity on their land. Thus, let us be grateful to God for such a harmony we have in Malaysia and don’t destroy it by doing things AGAINST verses & the Government.
(v) Are Christians standing up for Justice by doing so? No!
We stand up for justice by judging those Christians among us who do evil as 1 Corinthians 5:12 allows.
Regarding Non-Christians, we let “God Judge” them WITHOUT our role at all as 1 Corinthians 5:13 clearly speaks too:
“But God will judge those outside (Non-Christians). “Expel the evil out from among yourselves (Christians).” (1 Corinthians 5:13, BLB)
(vi) False teaching from pulpits otherwise
Christ NEVER taught any revolt against any evil governments in the Gospel and neither in apostle Paul’s Revelation to the Gentiles.
Thus, we CANNOT resist the government (Romans 13:1) and we stand “condemned” when we do so (Romans 13:2).
We are to fight Injustice from among Christians only (1 Corinthians 5:12) and NOT toward Non-Christians (1 Corinthians 5:13) as God will judge the Non-Christians.
The Old Testament verses, for example Micah 6:8 or others speak about Israel (believers at that time) fighting against oppression among them (within believers) as God did NOT apply those verses in the false context of fighting oppression toward Non-israelites!
Twisted preaching comes from twisted Church doctrines and all these are bringing shame to God being AGAINST His Verses!
Let’s NOT be part of such “twisted Christianity” and lean towards OBEYING our Blessed Saviour Who did NOT even permit us to “resist the evil person” (to become the ‘true harmless sheep of His’ instead of a ‘wolf in sheep’s clothing’) as “it is written” too that:
“But I say to you, do NOT resist an evil person; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.” – Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 5:39, NASB)
If we cannot obey God’s Word & wish to fight politically to “save the life on earth which we love”, please go ahead but that path is NOT endorsed by ANY New Testament verse, and is a “fake Christianity”.
“For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.” – Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 16:25, NASB)
Please be wise and see the parallel that in the “same” way such preachers “twist” these Scriptures and “say that it doesn’t apply today”, they “twist” the rest of “New Testament Scripture” likewise too:
“Therefore, beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, spotless and blameless,
and regard the patience of our Lord as salvation; just as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, wrote to you,
as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.
You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of unprincipled men and fall from your own steadfastness,” (2 Peter 3:14 – 17, NASB)
(vi) Let us make our choice and remain in it
“Let the one who does wrong, still do wrong; and the one who is filthy, still be filthy; and let the one who is righteous, still practice righteousness; and the one who is holy, still keep himself holy.” (Revelation 22:17, NASB)
God has NO political agenda or “earthly” kingdom & best still, He does NOT need any Christians to ‘fight for him in ANY Way’:
“Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would be fighting so that I would not be handed over to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not of this realm.” (John 18:36, NASB)
God’s Principles & Commands remain “same” and does NOT change ‘within a Covenant’ (NO new thing is to be created by us but rather, we ought ONLY follow what is written in New Testament exegesis of Scripture especially as divinely revealed through apostle Paul, NO new revelations):
“Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all SPEAK the SAME thing, and that there be NO divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the SAME mind and in the SAME judgment.” (1 Corinthians 1:10, KJV)
To those choosing to “disobey” these verses, may God have Mercy!
“As it has been written: “For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you.” (Romans 2:24, BLB)
“We are called to OBEY Scripture and NOT to be heroes fighting for our own political rights or fighting to save our own lives on earth” – Anonymous
“Honor all people, love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the king.” (1 Peter 2:12, NASB)
