It may be ‘you’ (the pharisees) who come in ‘later’ as they ‘enter His Kingdom before you’.
Why?
They may ‘change’ more easily and this time, it may be permanent.
The Blessed Lord says this and implies that there’s hope in Him:
“Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Truly I say to you that the tax collectors and prostitutes will get into the kingdom of God before you.” (Matthew 21:31)
