How about Faith versus Human Sense, Intelligence and Knowledge?
Question
It’s a common question as to ‘why’ we place our “faith” in “what is written” in the “Word of God” only regarding things pertaining to God instead of a ‘scholar’s analysis when it is plainly against what is written’
Reply
If it’s regarding the Word of God stating something, I would choose Faith over any human sense, knowledge & intelligence.
Because I know that God doesn’t make mistakes in His Word. So, I can have Faith in God Who Alone is Perfect even in His Word “as it is written”.
Human senses, knowledge & intelligence are always prone to error especially in their analysis against ‘what is written’ because humans are imperfect. Furthermore, human analysis or evidence is just quoting ‘authorities’ based on ‘other humans’ who ‘existed earlier’ which are ‘not’ inspired writing. Quoting ‘evidence & proof’ from ‘non-inspired’ writing instead of “verses only” is too ambiguous for me no matter who is quoted ‘as authority’.
I rather believe the verses “as it is written”.
Example:
A verse,
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5)
Where I understand it as follows:
Faith in His Word “as it is written” = ‘Trust in the LORD with all your heart’
Trusting human sense, knowledge & intelligence “against” what is “written” = ‘do not lean on your own understanding’
Hope it clarifies our position in such matters, peace.
