FAQ – Great White Throne of Judgment

  1. Who are ALL the Nations (Matthew 25:32) gathered before His Great Throne for Judgment in Matthew 25:31?

Reply 1:

All Gentiles from all time periods.

Indeed,

From the Millennial Reign and from other time periods as they are gathered before His Great Throne (Revelation 20:11, Matthew 25:31) at the End of the Millennial Reign (Revelation 20:5 – 6).

All the Nations gathered there (Matthew 25:32, Revelation 20:12) with His Brethren in the flesh (nation of Israel) and His Brethren in the spirit (Believers of both Jewish & Gentile type, Hebrews 2:11).

Brethren in the spirit (Believers of both Jewish & Gentile type, Hebrews 2:11) = those with faith in Christ in life prior being “one spirit with Him” (1 Corinthians 6:17).

  1. The judgement of Matthew 25:31-46 occurs 1000 years prior to the Great White Throne judging. These nations in Matthew 25:31-46 are not resurrected to judgment.

When He comes in His glory, He begins His millennial reign on earth. The great white throne judgment has nothing to do with His coming in glory. Rather, all mankind go to Him for judgment when heaven and earth flees.

Reply 2:

Nope, Christ’s Return is on His White Horse prior to the Millennial Reign and not on His Throne. These two are Distinct.

Having a Judgment before the Millennial Reign is not the order specified in Revelation 20. The Millennial Reign is first (Revelation 20:5 – 6), details not mentioned in Revelation.

After that only, Judgment on His Throne (Revelation 20:11 – 15) next.

  1. This occurs one thousand years prior to the great white throne judgment:

“And I perceived thrones, and they are seated on them, and judgment was granted to them. And the souls of those executed because of the testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, and those who do not worship the wild beast or its image, and did not get the emblem on their forehead and on their hand- they also live and reign with Christ a thousand years.” (The rest of the dead do not live until the thousand years should be finished.) This is the former resurrection. Happy and holy is he who is having part in the former resurrection! Over these the second death has no jurisdiction, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will be reigning with Him the thousand years.”

(Rev 20:4-6)

Reply 3:

They sat on the thrones is not the Judgment of the nations. They were given the authority to Judge and Reign during the Millennial Reign next for a thousand years on the Earth after being Resurrected First. Christ on His Throne is only mentioned in Revelation 20:11 -12 onwards which is what is referred to in Matthew 25:31 -32.

No mention of Christ sitting on His Throne in Revelation 20:4 – 6 which is prior to His Millennial Reign.

  1. They are sitting on 12 thrones judging the 12 tribes of Israel during the 1000 year reign (Matt.19:28; Luke 22:30; Rev.20:4).

Rev 20:4″ And I perceived thrones, and they are seated on them, and judgment was granted to them. And the souls of those executed because of the testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, and those who do not worship the wild beast or its image, and did not get the emblem on their forehead and on their hand- they also live and reign with Christ a thousand years.”

Reply 4:

The apostles are Judging the twelve tribes of Israel on the earth is NOT during the Millennial Reign but post His Final Judgment as it is Described below:

“And Jesus said to them, “Truly I say to you, that you who have followed Me, in the regeneration when the Son of Man will sit on His Glorious Throne, you also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.” (Matthew 19:28, NASB)

Besides, as you said, it is only Written that they judge the 12 tribes of Israel and the Judgment of the Nations is Done by Christ toward all men (Revelation 20:11 -15) where the Nations are highlighted in Matthew 25:31 – 32.  Yes, Matthew 19:28 speaks of  Judgment which happens when Christ Sits on His Throne & Judges First (Revelation 20:11 – 12) which is clearly AFTER the Millennial Reign.

  1. The judgment of the nations occurs at the beginning of Christ’s millennial reign for how they treated His brethren and ONLY His brethren.

The Great White Throne judgment is concerned with all mankind who are not in the book/scroll of life and who are resurrected to appear before that judgment 1000 years AFTER the judgment of the nations in Matthew 25:31-46 and are judged according to their acts. NATIONS are not brought before the GWT but INDIVIDUALS are.

Here’s a Chronology of Events as it is Written in Order of Consecutive Verses:

The Judgment of the Nations does NOT occur at the Beginning of the Millennial Reign but only after the Second Resurrection (John 5:28 – 29) where during the Millennial Reign ONLY His Elect are Raised (Revelation 20:4 – 6) to reign over the earth (containing Jewish and Gentile mortals for a thousand years).

Matthew 25:1 – 13 describes His Bride Chosen for Marriage who will be part of the First Resurrection. This Happens when He Returns on His White Horse to gather His elect for Marriage too (Revelation 19:7 – 10, Mark 13:27) and even defeats the beast & his army (Revelation 19:11 – 21). Satan is Bound for a thousand Years (Revelation 20:1 – 3).

The Marriage of the Lamb happens during this Time and consequently, His Bride (the Church, His Body, sheepfold1) becomes “One Flesh” with Him now (meaning of Marriage-Mystery here) resulting in the First Resurrection (Revelation 20:4 – 6). The Church was “One Spirit” with Him prior (1 Corinthians 6:17). So, His Church (Wife) is now both “One Spirit and One Flesh” with Him thereafter following this Marriage.

Matthew 25:14 – 30 speaks of the remaining Jewish mortals on the earth to prove themselves as His Worthy Servants during the Millennial Reign which comes next with these Immortals of the First Resurrection (Revelation 20:5 – 6, Luke 20:34 – 36).

The Millennial Reign ends with one last deception as Satan is released one last time (Revelation 20:7) to gather the Nations for war (Revelation 20:8) and the armies which surrounded this holy city of the Millennial Reign are consumed by a fire from heaven (Revelation 20:9) following which Satan is Judged and cast into the Lake of Fire (Revelation 20:10, Prophetically mentioned in John 12:31 too).

John 12:31 mentions that Satan must be Judged First before this Drawing of all mankind to His White Throne for Judgment occurs which is described first in Revelation 20:10.

The Second Resurrection happens at the ‘hour which is coming’ (referencing a last hour) on this Last Day (John 5:28 – 29, Daniel 12:2) where the righteous (sheepfold2) obtain a resurrection of life where the wicked obtain a resurrection for Judgment.

Matthew 25:31 – 46, speaks of the Judgment Day (Revelation 20:11 – 15) which follows Next (agreeing with the Chronology in John 12:32 too which states that ALL MANKIND will be DRAWN there) for this Final Judgment (1 Peter 4:5, Acts 17:31) with the Judgment of the Nations being highlighted here in Matthew 25:31 – 46 particularly.

The two sequences in Matthew 25 and Revelation 19 – 20 as listed above agrees perfectly with this Timeline in the ORDER SPECIFIED by SCRIPTURE too as it is Written.

The Dead = the Wicked from among All men

The Living = the Small + the Great = Whose Names are Written in the Lamb’s Book of LIFE

The Small = The Righteous Resurrected to LIFE during the Second Resurrection (Daniel 12:2, John 5:28 – 29) for ‘Good Deeds’ (Sheepfold2). This happens during the “HOUR IS COMING” during the ‘last hour’ of this LAST DAY (of this current AGE1) as it is mentioned in John 5:28 – 29 referring to after the Millennial Reign.

The Great = The Righteous in FAITH consisting of His Bride (the Church only) to whom He is Married to, i.e. ALL Those of the First Resurrection (Revelation 20:4 – 6, Sheepfold1). This happens during the “HOUR NOW IS” during the ‘first hour’ of this LAST DAY (of this current AGE1) as it is mentioned in John 5:25 just before the Millennial Reign.

Last Day of this Age (AGE1) = ‘first hour’ + 1000 years Millennial Reign + ‘last hour’

the ‘HOUR NOW IS’ in John 5:25 toward a Resurrection to LIFE refers to the First Resurrection (Revelation 20:4 – 6). This is for Sheepfold1 only.

the ‘HOUR WHICH IS COMING’ in John 5:25 & in John 5:28 toward the Resurrection to Life for the righteous is Good Deeds based (John 5:29). This is for Sheepfold2 only.

the ‘HOUR WHICH IS COMING’ in John 5:28 toward the Resurrection to Judgment for the Wicked is toward their Evil Deeds (John 5:29).

6) What is the Last Day?

Last Day (John 6:54) indicates that for example that the First Resurrection of the righteous to life is within this current age itself.

Last Day (John 6:40) indicates that for example the Second Resurrection of the righteous to life (John 5:28 – 29) is within this current age itself.

Last Day = Last Day of the Current Age.

The second group of righteous being raised to life are raised simultaneously with the wicked (Daniel 12:2, John 5:28 – 29) and hence cannot be the First Resurrection (Revelation 20:4 – 6).

Between these two Resurrection is the Millennial Reign (Revelation 20:5 – 6).

Please note that the Second Resurrection immediately leads to Judgment for the Wicked (John 5:28 – 29) which is only on Judgment Day before the Great White Throne (Revelation 20:11 – 15).

Thus the Millennial Reign is NOT the next age but rather occurs within the Last Day (a Day is like a thousand years) of this same current age.

7) What is the Timeline for this Current Age?

Reply 7:

Timeline for this Current Age (AGE1) is as follows:

Christ’s Return is one the events leading to the end of this age (Matthew 24:29 – 31).

The Judgment of the Nations (people of the Nations gathered before Him) is after the Millennial Reign (Matthew 25:14 – 30).

You are treating all these Verses without distinction as referring to ONE LAST DAY or MILLENNIAL AGE which is INACCURATE.

Also, please note that the Millennial Reign happens within the LAST DAY and Scripture does NOT call it an “age” at all which is further solidified by the fact that ‘a thousand years is like a DAY (not an “age”)’ supporting this Claim Biblically:

The Last Day = ‘a start hour NOW IS’ + “1000 years Millennial Reign” + ‘an end HOUR which is COMING’

To be specific:

(i) Christ’s Return on His White Horse and events leading up to it or during it (Matthew 24, Revelation 19:11 -21).

(ii) Christ’s Marriage with the Bride after the Elect are gathered during His Return (Matthew 24:31, Revelation 19:7 – 9, Matthew 25:1 – 13).

This causes the First Resurrection which is only for His Bride who are given thrones and Judgment, they reign with Him over the remaining mortals of the earth for a thousand years first (Revelation 20:4 – 6).

(iii) The Millennial Reign happens as the remaining Servants (mortals, e. g. Jews, the Brethren) are given stewardship during this “long time” of a thousand years (Matthew 25:14 – 19).

The Master Returns at the End of this Millennial Reign to judge His “Brethren” (mortal Israelites first, Matthew 25:19).

(iv) Great White Throne of Judgment

The Remaining mankind are Resurrection for Judgment vs Life (John 5:28 – 29) at the last hour of the Last Day.

The Israelite Brethren’s Judgment is described separately first (Matthew 25:20 – 30).

Next, the Judgment of all remaining mankind as “all the Nations” are gathered before Him (individual people of these nations as He separates the sheep and the goats, righteous individuals vs wicked individuals first, Matthew 25:32 – 33).

All Mankind having been Drawn (John 12:32) after Satan has been cast out into the Lake of Fire just at the end of that 1000 years (John 12:31, Revelation 20:7 – 10) signifies Judgment first (Revelation 20:11).

The Servants or brethren being Judged is described in Matthew 25:20 – 30.

The rest of all nations being Judged is described in Matthew 25:34 – 46.

In Revelation, this Judgment is described toward all men (Jew or Gentile together) in all generality in Revelation 20:11 – 15.

(v) The Beginning of the Last Day is NOT the End of the Age.

The Bible Details out the Details above in the specified order.

Here’s the Timeline:

  1. a) First Day of this Age

Christ Resurrected and the New Testament came in Force.

First Day of this Age = His Resurrection Day and the initial Time Period of the Earliest Church.

  1. b) Days of the Son of Man (Second Day of this Current Age onwards till just before the Day of the Son of Man, which is His Returning Day)

Perilous Times referring to Various Days of Difficulty before the Coming of the Son of Man on His White Horse.

Some of these Days were past for example apostle John speaks of the “last hour” of a particular Day during his time which pertains to the preterist view (1st century theory).

But at the same time whilst mentioning the “last hour” (for that Day) in regards to the antichrist, apostle John also mentions ‘other Antichrists’ who are coming (for each of these perilous Days). A specific last antichrist or the beast (or lawless one) will come as it is described in the Book of Revelation first just before His Return.

  1. c) Day of the Son of Man (second last Day of this age)

Christ’s Return is NOT on the Last Day. Christ’s Return is on the Day of the Son of Man (2nd Last Day).

Christ Destroys the Beast and His armies on this Day.

Christ Marries His Bride of this Day.

  1. d) Last Day of this age

At the Start of this Day, Satan is caught and bound for a thousand years into the bottomless pit.

The Beginning of the Last Day = During An HOUR NOW IS, it is Prophetically mentioned to refer to the First Resurrection during the Start of this Last Day.

The Middle of this Last Day = Millennial Reign for a thousand years.

After the thousand years are finished, one last deception of Satan is allowed as he is released and then Judged being thrown into the Lake of Fire.

The End of this Last Day = During an HOUR which is COMING, it refers to where all remaining mankind are resurrected for life vs Judgment simultaneously before His Great White Glorious Throne next.

  1. e) First Day of the Next Age

The Great White Throne of Judgment is at the First Day of the Next Age.
