Do these verses teach us to keep the Sabbath under the New Covenant?

The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed Joseph and saw the tomb and how His body was laid in it. Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes. But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment.” (Luke 23:55 – 56)

Answer: No!

Explanation: Note that the “time” when the women observed the Sabbath in these verses was during “Lord Jesus’ Burial”. That is, the dismantling of the Old Covenant has begun and the making of the New Covenant was taking force with the shedding of His Most Holy and Sinless Blood. The New Covenant comes in full force replacing the Old when “He Resurrected”.

Hence, the Bible doesn’t contradict itself when seen through the right lenses of truth:

By calling this covenant “New,” He has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear.” (Hebrews 8:13)

Therefore do not let anyone judge you with respect to food or drink, or in the matter of a feast, new moon, or Sabbath days–” (Colossians 2:16)
