Judaism – Uncircumcised in the Heart

Let’s begin with a question

‘a Jew is a Jew, even if he/she keeps the Torah or not!!!’

Reply:

This is true in a racial or ‘outward Jew context’ (Romans 2:28) and exactly what is described in the write up above —-> that it must be referring to an ‘inward Jew’ by the Spirit which is only possible by believing in Lord Jesus Christ first —> and “not by the letter” (please note this phrase in Romans 2:29) which means ‘not by Torah observance’.

Here’s A Great Warning against Judaism by YHWH Himself

Verse:

“Circumcise yourselves to the LORD And remove the foreskins of your heart, Men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem, Or else My wrath will go forth like fire And burn with none to quench it, Because of the evil of your deeds.” (Jeremiah 4:4, NASB)

Please note that, in verse above

LORD = YHWH

“Circumcise…remove the foreskins of your heart” = speaks of the ‘inward circumcision’ by His Spirit (as discussed in Romans 2:28 – 29).

Here’s an example post discussing this aspect in detail:

Meaning? What does YHWH require of them?

Circumcision of the heart ♥ is only possible by His Spirit when one ‘believes and accepts Lord Jesus Christ as their Messiah’.

Verses:

“However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.” – apostle Paul (Romans 8:9, NASB)

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” – apostle Paul (Romans 8:14, NASB)

“But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His Name:” (John 1:12, KJV)

P/S:

“Behold, the days are coming,” declares the LORD, “that I will punish all who are circumcised and yet uncircumcised” (Jeremiah 9:25, NASB)

Why?  Because of the “uncircumcision of the heart” due to not accepting Lord Jesus Christ as the Messiah, as the next verse (context) to the above reveals:

“Egypt and Judah, and Edom and the sons of Ammon, and Moab and all those inhabiting the desert who clip the hair on their temples; for all the nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised of heart.” (Jeremiah 9:26, NASB)

Circumcision of the heart by the Spirit has nothing to do witg the ‘old way of obeying the Written Torah’, especially for Gentile believers (quoted in principle here):

“But now we have been released from the Law, having died to that by which we were bound, so that we serve in newness of the Spirit and not in oldness of the letter” (Romans 7:6, NASB)

Conclusion

“Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but what matters is the keeping of the commandments of God” (1 Corinthians 7:19, NASB)

What is God’s Command in this New Testament age which condemns Judaism for not obeying it?

“This is His commandment, that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He commanded us.” – apostle John (1 John 3:23, NASB)

“Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent.” (John 6:29, NASB)

Please note that it is impossible to be ‘circumcised in the heart without His Holy Spirit’ (Romans 2:29) and it is impossible to have ‘His Holy Spirit without believing first’ (John 7:39). Verses quoted:

“For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh. But he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that which is of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter; and his praise is not from men, but from God.” – apostle Paul (Romans 2:28 – 29, NASB)

“But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified” (John 7:39, NASB)

Yes,  it is impossible to receive the Holy Spirit by doing the works of the Torah (Law)  ‘only’ as it is clearly mentioned in verse below:

“This is the only thing I want to find out from you: did you receive the Spirit by the works of the Law, or by hearing with faith?” – apostle Paul (Galatians 3:2, NASB)

“Let me ask you this one question: Did you receive the Holy Spirit by obeying the law of Moses? Of course not! You received the Spirit because you believed the message you heard about Christ.” – apostle Paul (Galatians 3:2, NLT)

The Gift of the Holy Spirit is available for anyone who believes:

“Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 2:38, NASB)

Especially for ‘those believers’ who ‘ask God the Father’ for His ‘Holy Spirit’:

“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?” – Lord Jesus Christ (Luke 11:13, NASB)

So,  let us not be deceived by Judaism.

Indeed,  the Role of His Powerful & Beautiful Holy Spirit:

“But now I am going to Him who sent Me; and none of you asks Me, ‘Where are You going?’

“But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart.

“But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you.

“And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment; concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me; and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you no longer see Me; and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.

“I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.

“But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.

“He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you. “All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you.” (John 16:5 – 15, NASB)

Are we really able to understand these things?

The Holy Spirit of God is available as a Perfect Gift for all believers but only Dwells among those who “obey” Him (as apostle Paul echoes this same truth in 1 Corinthians 14:37 by using the words ‘spiritual or prophet’ where both these roles describe a ‘spiritual’ role by ‘His Spirit only’) agreeing ‘Perfectly’ with verse below too:

“And we are witnesses of these things; and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him” (Acts 5:32, NASB)

“If anyone thinks he is a prophet or spiritual, let him recognize that the things which I write to you are the Lord’s commandment.” – apostle Paul (1 Corinthians 14:37, NASB)

Yes, there is no way that a person with His Holy Spirit  —> may reject the “written Lord’s commandments” through ‘apostle Paul’ (as implied in 1 Corinthians 14:37) —-> and can call Lord Jesus cursed as it is done by Judaism    as implied in verse below too:

“Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus is accursed”; and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.” – apostle Paul (1 Corinthians 12:3, NASB)

So,  we should question our wicked hearts (Jeremiah 17:9) instead of questioning “the Blessed Lord’s Commands as it is Written” (1 Corinthians 14:37) and keep away from those who curse Christ instead of accepting such speech (1 Corinthians 12:3).

Are we really able to see it?

Peace to you
