Reading Hearts

Why do we seek different type of treasures?

Because it’s a matter of our hearts which differ but are revealed by the type of treasure we seek.

Treasures which people seek: Money, Women, Husband/Wife, Career, Material things such as house/car, virtues such as love & loyalty, power/position, family/father/mother/children, knowledge/wisdom, various skills such as musical affinity to plumbing, self-exaltation in wanting to be God, … Eternal life in the Word of God… Or just God Himself.

“Jesus said: “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:19-21)

At the end of the day, what type of treasure each one of us seeks reveals what our hearts are really made of (the best indicator of reading a person’s heart for “there your heart will be also”).

In short, our hearts are revealed by the treasure we seek.
