Ages – Past, Present and Future

From “all ages” [past,  implied] —-> to “all ages” [future, implied as well]

The Bible has always been consistent of speaking of ages in the past,  present and future (i. e. each “age” has a beginning and an end according to the Purpose of God) —–> so,  “no” eternal age.

Biblical example verses for each:

(i)  Existence of “ages past”

“and to cause all to see what is the fellowship of the secret that hath been hid from the ages in God, who the all things did create by Jesus Christ,” (Ephesians 3:9, YLT)

“Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery which has been kept secret for long ages past,” (Romans 16:25, NASB)

“that is, the mystery which has been hidden from the past ages and generations, but has now been manifested to His saints,” (Colossians 1:26, NASB)

(ii)  Present age

“who gave Himself for our sins so that He might rescue us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,” (Galatians 1:4, NASB)

(iii) Next age

Punishment and Reward:

“And these shall go away to punishment age-during, but the righteous to life age-during.'” (Matthew 25:46, YLT)

“Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.” (Matthew 12:32, NASB)

“who may not receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brothers, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and fields, with persecutions, and in the age that is coming, life age-during;” (Mark 10:30, YLT)

(iv)   Existence of “future ages”

Which proves that the ‘next age is NOT eternal’

“so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.” (Ephesians 2:7, NASB)

Isn’t it Biblically clear?

“Faith” has to do with understanding the “ages” as it’s defined clearly in Hebrews 11 in verse below,  the chapter of faith itself!

“by faith we understand the ages to have been prepared by a saying of God, in regard to the things seen not having come out of things appearing;” (Hebrews 11:3, YLT)

Indeed,  there’s a “Purpose of the ages”:

“according to a purpose of the ages, which He made in Christ Jesus our Lord,” (Ephesians 3:11, YLT)

Please note that ‘all’ the words translated as ‘age or ages’ respectively come from the ‘same’ root word in Greek, namely: “Aion” or “Eon”. Can we really see it now?
