Alcoholic Drinks

“Wine is a mocker, Strong drink is a brawler and whoever is led astray by it is not wise.” (Proverbs 20:1)

Three Facts on Alcoholic Drinks here:

(1) Wine causes you to mock & be mocked (e.g. From gossips, slanders to just making fun of other people or situations is done thereafter in thoughts, words and actions).

(2) Strong drinks (beers, liquor etc.) causes you to be in a “state of fight” (ready to fight in words, thoughts or acts) including ‘inside you’ (if you managed to suppress it well by playing it cool on the outside).

(3) No wise person is carried away by this habit (this means that only the “unwise” especially spiritually carry on this habit).

Truth.

P/S:

The Context in which a tool is used is important. Just like fire, if used wrongly it can harm you but for the right purposes, it’s greatly advantageous.

Medicinal and religious use is an entirely different context:

“Stop drinking only water, and use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses.” (1 Timothy 5:23)

“This is My Blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom.” – Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 26:28 – 29)

Many fallaciously quote Christ’s drinking of wine above to justify their “drinking party” in sinful entertainment huts.

Can you see the “difference” between Christ’s drinking of a cup of wine (shared across His 12 disciples) with “their false claim”?

The absurdity is obvious (‘literal context’) as it is.

Lastly, a note:

A spiritually lower position still allows the drinking of alcoholic drinks but the “wiser” you want to become “spiritually”, you’re “not” allowed to consume it at all (as these couplet of verses describe so clearly) in the New Testament itself (“no” confusions):

(i) Spiritually lower position (deacons, may drink ‘a little’):

“In the same way, deacons are to be worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain.” (1 Timothy 3:8)

(ii) Spiritually higher positions (bishop, cannot drink, ‘not’ a drinker at all):

“not a drinker, not violent, not greedy for money, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money;” (1 Timothy 3:3)

God has set the Rules for His spiritual positions. No man can claim nor alter otherwise (these required characteristics of His Holiness).

Conclusion:

Finally, remember that beyond being right (even when drinking, possible), there is a “higher” path of being “spiritually wise” (toward perfection instead) which requires “no” drinking anymore.

It is your choice to determine how much further you wish to advance spiritually here on earth.
