Be Warned – Deceptive hearts of the Lovers of Money

Lord Jesus Christ warns against being deceived by the “lovers of money” & “their hearts” about which “God knows” in verses below:

“And also the Pharisees, being lovers of money, were hearing all these things, and were deriding Him,

and He (Lord Jesus Christ) said to them, ‘Ye are those declaring yourselves righteous before men, but God doth know your hearts; because that which among men is high, [is] abomination before God;” (Luke 16:14 – 15, YLT)

Holy Scripture is never wrong and God Will prove ‘the secret of their hearts’ on the Day in which they are ‘Judged in the afterlife’ too as it is written in verse below as well:

“on the day when, according to my gospel, God will judge the secrets of men through Christ Jesus.” – apostle Paul (Romans 2:16, NASB)

No one can ‘prove’ anything against His Blessed Words but rather He Will prove His Truth found in each verse ‘as it is written’ beyond this life too. Hence, let us be wise:

“For nothing is hidden that will not become evident, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light.” – Lord Jesus Christ (Luke 8:17, NASB)

Let us not be deceived otherwise.

“There is no wisdom, nor understanding, Nor counsel, over-against Jehovah” (Proverbs 21:30, YLT)

Please note the phrase “love of money” and “not money” in verse below too to understand this ‘root’ (hidden thing) regarding ‘all evil’ [roots are not always ‘seen’ being hidden but ‘it is certainly a trait that is present in all who are evil’]:

“For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” – apostle Paul (1 Timothy 6:10, KJV)

Indeed,

“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money*” – Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 6:24, NIV)

*Money —> literally, “Mammon” which means “Money as God” or ‘a god of Money/Wealth/Prosperity’

Yes, let us be careful of the “deceitfulness of riches” which affects the ‘word of God’ sown in us as our Blessed Lord Himself describes in verse below:

“and the anxieties of this age, and the deceitfulness of the riches, and the desires concerning the other things, entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.” – Lord Jesus Christ (Mark 4:19, YLT)

True, life does “not” consist in the ‘abundance of such things (wealth & money)’:

“And He (Lord Jesus Christ) said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.” (Luke 12:15, KJV)
