Does God judge by “result only”?

Does greater “results” prove that we’ve given “more”?

The answer to both of the questions above is “no” (from a Biblical standpoint).

The incident:

“Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts.

But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents.

Calling His disciples to Him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others.

They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.” (Mark 12:41 – 44)

Explanation (note that He says, “Truly I tell you” in the verse above):

Remember, contrary to popular belief, God doesn’t measure by ‘result only’ but by ‘obedience’ (to verses) and ‘heart’ (selfish or selfless?).

A good case study to see this would be the poor widow who gave only two coins which may not even be enough to feed a person (almost no result) compared to much money poured in by the rich which may have fed many people (greater result).

But the Lord still said that “she gave more”.

Why?
Her heart was more selfless for she gave “all” that she had:

—> relatively, 100% giving (‘all’ she had)

—> which is a greater factor than the “result” (almost nobody benefitted from the poor widow compared to many benefitting from the rich-givers).

Yes, that’s how God is Perfectly Fair indeed.
