Fruits

He has chosen us to bear “fruit”. He said that a good tree bears “good fruit” and vice versa. He also commanded us to preach the Gospel.

Thus we ought to preach the Gospel and bear “fruit”. Bear “good fruits” worthy of repentance, “Produce fruit in keeping with repentance.” (Matthew 3:8).

Also, what are the “fruits”?
Good works rooted in Love based upon a sincere belief rooted in the true Gospel.

True “fruits” prove that we’re His disciples, “My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples.” (John 15:8)

How do I know that the “fruits” must include good works?

Consider the verses below:

“so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,” (Colossians 1:10 mentions bearing “fruit” in every “good work”).

A faith without works is “not good” as this verse states, “What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them?” (James 2:14)

Also, the “good works” (fruits) done by faith is “feeding the hungry & clothing the naked” as even the verse above continues to tell concluding that a faith with such works is not dead. Indeed, “Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” (James 2:15 – 17)

Lastly, this is exactly what the Lord judges us upon on Judgment Day as well (whether we have fed the poor, clothe the naked etc) as this verse states too:

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,” (Matthew 25:35)

And thus, based on these good “works/fruits” we work out our Salvation in fear and trembling (fear & trembling because we don’t think it is because of our righteous acts but rather by the grace and providence of God we’re enabled to do so – not puffed up whilst doing it) as this verse states (without complaining or grumbling too):

“Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.

Do everything without grumbling or arguing, ” (Philippians 2:12 – 14)
