The Inevitable Return of All Things to Him

(i) What?

How much has the Father given to Him (Lord Jesus Christ) which ‘He won’t cast out’ when they ‘come to Him’ (“Return”) as the verse in picture says?

Is it ‘some’ things, ‘believing’ things, ‘men’ only or all things?

Let Scripture answer:

“Jesus knew that the Father had delivered all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was returning to God.” (John 13:3)

“The Father loves the Son and has given all things into His hand.” (John 3:35)

(ii) Emphasis: What will Lord Jesus Christ do to them when they all eventually ‘come (return) to Him’ past all the Judgment?

“All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out.” – Lord Jesus Christ (John 6:37)

(iii) How?

“Through Him” only this “Return” —> of “All things” —-> (‘To Him’) —> Will be Accomplished fulfilling the Perfect Will of God

“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” (John 14:6)

“For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.” (John 6:38)

“For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.” (John 3:17)

(iv) Why?

He is the “Heir” of “All Things” as
—> All Things were created “FOR Him”

“For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities– all things have been created through Him and FOR Him.” (Colossians 1:16)

—-> the Purpose of Creation in the “ages” <—- (Time periods; hence, this time period of the “age or ages” is often highlighted or mentioned in Scripture toward such purposes being fulfilled in this direction during that time!)

“because of Him, and through Him, and to Him are the all things; to Him is the glory — to the ages. Amen.” (Romans 11:36)

The Reason is crystal clear in Scripture ‘as it is written’ (like 1,2,3,4; —> for easy remembrance of the two related verse numbers in Hebrews below):

“in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, and through whom He made the ages,” (Hebrews 1:2)

“For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God.” (Hebrews 3:4)

—> is to “Return” (Restore, Reconcile or Save all things in the World)

“and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the Blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in the heavens.” (Colossians 1:20)

“whom indeed it behooves heaven to receive (Lord Jesus Christ) until the TIMES of restoration of all things, of which God spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets from the age.” (Acts 3:21)

“that He lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.

And He has made known to us the MYSTERY of HIS WILL according to His Good Pleasure, which He purposed in Christ

as a plan for the fullness of time, to bring all things in the heavens and on earth together in Christ.” (Ephesians 1:8 – 10)

P/S:

This is not a heresy but plain Biblical Truth as ‘it is written’ in Holy Scripture.

All ‘heresies’ (“heresy”) have a common trait which is being “destructive” in some way as the verse below highlights this ‘characteristic’:

“Now there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce DESTRUCTIVE HERESIES that even deny the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction on themselves.” (2 Peter 2:1)

What is “DESTRUCTIVE”?
Teachings which point to ‘something’ being “destroyed eternally nor ever being Saved or being reconciled back to Christ” OPPOSITE to what each quoted Scripture above early teaches!

God only “destroys to build back anew” as He is the Good Potter (yes, to make “ALL THINGS NEW”) in “His Reign” as verses below clearly Reveal Majestically:

“You will say to me then, “Why does He still find fault? For who resists His will?”

On the contrary, who are you, O man, who answers back to God? The thing molded will not say to the molder, “Why did you make me like this,” will it?

Or does not the potter have a right over the clay, to make from the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for common use?

What if God, although willing to demonstrate His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction?” (Romans 9:19 – 22)

““Arise and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will announce My words to you.”

Then I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was, making something on the wheel.

But the vessel that he was making of clay was spoiled in the hand of the potter; so he remade it into another vessel, as it pleased the potter to make.” (Jeremiah 18:2 – 4)

—-> Purpose of His Reign is to ‘end’ all His ‘enemies’ making them “subject (enemies ‘no’ more to Him” & we reign with Him <—

“and He shall REIGN (Verb) over the house of Jacob to the AGES; and of His KINGDOM (Noun) there shall be NO END.’ (Luke 1:33)

“For He must REIGN UNTIL (an “end”) He has put all His ENEMIES under His feet.

The last enemy that will be abolished is death.

For HE HAS PUT ALL THINGS IN SUBJECTION UNDER HIS FEET. But when He says, “All things are put in subjection,” it is evident that He is excepted who put all things in subjection to Him.” (1 Corinthians 15:25 – 27)

“and night shall not be there, and they have no need of a lamp and light of a sun, because the Lord God doth give them light, and they shall reign — to the ages of the Ages.” (Revelation 22:5)

“And to the one who is victorious and continues in My work until the end, I will give authority over the nations.

He will RULE them with an iron scepter and shatter them like pottery—just as I have received authority from My Father.

And I will give him the morning star.

He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the CHURCHES.” (Revelation 2:26 – 29)

—> Conclusion <—

God makes “ALL THINGS NEW”, making “EVERYTHING BEAUTIFUL” and becomes “ALL IN ALL” in the END:

“And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making ALL THINGS NEW.” And He said, “Write, for these words are faithful and true.” (Revelation 21:5)

“He hath made EVERY THING BEAUTIFUL in His time: also he hath set the AGE in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the BEGINNING to the END.” (Ecclesiastes 3:11)

“then comes the END, when He hands over the kingdom to the God and Father, when He has abolished all rule and all authority and power.” (1 Corinthians 15:24)

“When ALL THINGS are SUBJECTED to Him, then the Son Himself also will be SUBJECTED to the One who SUBJECTED ALL THINGS to Him, so that God may be ALL in ALL .” (1 Corinthians 15:28)

*Emphasis mine

The “SUBJECTION” (‘no’ enemies remain) of All Things to Him is with ‘Love’ because it’s the “same” way the verse above describes “His Subjection” to the Father (clearly ‘written as it is’).

“We have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.” (1 John 4:14)

Discussion for Edification – All things?

Some further edifying comments:

(a) Question

How about Calvinists quoting John 6:37 to try claim limited atonement?

Maybe this may help:

Firstly, the word in the passages quoted are “All” and “Everything” (nothing limited)

In fact, even “all His enemies” are written to be ‘under His Feet’ —> only thereafter, “all things” (including His Enemies too, just mentioned prior to be prepared for subjection To Him first via ‘under His Feet’) —> then, these “all things” (are made ‘subject’ (in the same way He ‘subjects in Love’ to the Father)

A possibility of ‘under His Feet’ could refer to ‘every knee bowing to Him’ willingly confessing ‘Jesus Christ is Lord’ to the Glory of God the Father agreeing perfectly with explanations discussed in a previous post (Isaiah 45, Philippians 2)

Regarding the ‘Limited atonement misunderstanding’ please consider the write-up in the subsequent comment below

Also, if Christ intended to mean the “All” in this passage to mean ‘believers only’ as Calvanists often ‘claim’ —> He could have just mention ‘believers only will come to Him…’ (for verse in picture) which He did not.

Further, please note that Christ mentions beautifully in the verse in picture that the “All” which He is “referring to” is ‘the All’ which the ‘Father has given Him’ (definition implied by ‘this phrase’).

No verse says that only “all believers only” (please note the word ‘only’) are given to His Hands by the Father. Only then the Calvinist limited atonement claim using the verse in picture can mean ‘only that’.

Since a definition verse of a broader “All” which The Father has given Him exists and points to “all things”, this definition is implied & agrees Scripturally (with verses mentioning ‘exactly that’, wow! As discussed in write up).

So, with other Scripture from this ‘same’ book of John (and other verses in The New Testament agree too as quoted in write up above), we find that this definition (with verses) for ‘the All’ which the ‘Father had given to Him’ is —-> “All things”.

In other words, the verses do ‘not limit’ the ‘All’ which the ‘Father had given Him’ as ‘believers only’. Yes, verses which denote believers specify that and cannot be matched with ‘the All’ referred to in this verse (in picture) because the word ‘All’ makes the connection to the ‘definition meant’ —> and it’s defined by Scripture that “All things” delivered to Him by ‘the Father’ without any strange, non-word-to-word matching of passages.

(b) Another Question

‘their point is those who dont come to him in this life which are the majority couldnt be included in the all because if they was they would come to him…’

A reply:

A limitation not specified by the verse quoted. In fact the opposite is true, namely Christ ‘reaches’ the “all things” beyond this life as He “Reconciles all things” (Colossians 1:20, Ephesians 1:10, 1 Corinthians 15:25 – 28) clearly implying this eventually.

In fact, the ‘definition’ of “All things” which are spoken of in Colossians 1:16 clearly mentions things on earth and in the heavens, including visible and “invisible” things (e.g. spirit world, afterlife, beyond this life) too —> to be “Reconciled” to Him (Colossians 1:20, just four verses later) proving Context perfectly as it is & amazingly agreeing to other “all things” verses quoted.
