Jesus is God

Jesus is God

As We Christians believe,

“The Word” = Lord Jesus Christ

So, since “The Word” = “Was God”, it follows that “Jesus Christ was God” (the present tense or past tense doesn’t really matter for this Crux Truth of Christianity where both Catholics & Protestants agree mostly).

The “past tense” (“was God”) refers to a brief time period Where “God (Lord Jesus Christ) became Man” (and left His God-ship, for that Purpose) as even Apostle Paul echoed it:

“Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, Who, although He (Jesus) existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men.” (Philippians 2:5 – 7)

We know that “The Word” mentioned in John 1:1 = “Lord Jesus Christ” because a few verses later it’s referred to “Lord Jesus Christ” Who “became Flesh” (this “same Word” is referred to here):

“And the Word became Flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14)

The doctrine (of Trinity) that “Jesus Christ is God” is mentioned Mysteriously like this in Biblical Scripture.

The Bible doesn’t even have the Word “Trinity” but Its concepts are there. Later theologians coined the word Trinity for “simpler reference”.

He (Lord Jesus Christ) has returned being exalted as “Lord God” as the Bible refers to Him as the “Alpha & Omega” Who is also identified as “the Almighty” (post-Resurrection, proving that His God-ship is Eternal).

Here are Biblical verses for these:

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “Who is and Who was and Who is to come, the Almighty.” (Revelation 1:8)

“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” (Revelation 22:13)

*Other various titles for “God” revealed in the verses above include: “The First and the Last” and “the Beginning and the End”.

**The impossibilities which are often cited against it are just opinions of men. With God, all things are possible and this is the way it’s written in Biblical Scripture & I believe it thus.
