Our Mother

What does the phrase ‘Jerusalem is our mother’ mean?

“But the Jerusalem above is free; she is our mother.” (Galatians 4:26, NASB)

Because:

“And you brethren, like Isaac, are children of promise. But as at that time he who was born according to the flesh persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, so it is now also.” (Galatians 4:28 – 29, NASB)

Why?

Firstly, the Bride, the Wife of the Lamb (Revelation 21:9) will be gathered in the ‘New Jerusalem’ in Heaven (Revelation 21:10 – 23) and it consists of those from sheep-fold1 only (Revelation 19:7 – 8), i.e. His Church (Ephesians 5:27, 29) because we become His Body through the Marriage Mystery as we become One Flesh with Him when the Marriage is Consummated causing the First Resurrection to Happen (Ephesians 5:30, 32, Revelation 20:5 – 6).

So, the phrase:

Jerusalem above = Spiritual Jerusalem which descends from Heaven

is free = only those who are Saved and are Free from Sin eternally may be here

she is our mother = the New Jerusalem containing the Bride, the Church till His Marriage acts like a ‘mother’s womb’ in that we come out of it during the First Resurrection being Born Again into our Spiritual Bodies when this Happens

So, in Revelation 21:9 – 10, the New Jerusalem is NOT mentioned to be the mother anymore but as the Bride and the Wife of the Lamb meaning that the ‘giving birth’ part is  over since these ones have become the ‘great’ in His kingdom being part of the First Resurrection.

Yes, the ‘bride’ (believers from sheep-fold1 who are still in their souls with spirit) only become His Wife (His Body in the Flesh) when the Marriage is Consummated in that they gain their ‘Spiritual Bodies’ respectively during the First Resurrection. The Flesh here is not that which of the Natural Body but that which belongs to the Imperishable or Incorruptible Spiritual Body.
