Roughly – Harshly – Chastise – Batter

(my own body only —> when it wants to sin)

Correct in light of this verse:

But I roughly treat my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be disqualified.” – apostle Paul (1 Corinthians 9:27)

As the Lord Himself said (for example):

If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell (Gehenna).” – Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 5:29)

Please take note that you “cannot” gorge out another person’s eye nor treat harshly another person’s body but YOURS ONLY for the ‘sole purpose of keeping away from sin’ —> but “never” to the point of death —> “if needed to only” (meaning if you really have “no” other option, —> meaning ‘Hell’ is the only remaining option if you don’t act likewise – read with wisdom & understand).

Remember, it’s a “choice” and “not a command'” (for it is a ‘better choice’ than going into the ‘fires of Hell’ with those body parts which caused you to sin).

Understand correctly and please don’t “mock His Word” for the consequences is really “too much to bear” (in pain).

In this context, what’s meant by “command” vs “choice”?

*Command means for example, “just pluck out your lustful eyes” (not meant here) while a choice means “it’s better to pluck out your lustful eyes” —> if the only remaining option otherwise is —> “going into the fires of Hell (Gehenna)”.
