Tattoo – Debate
Here is an example of Tattoo versus No Tattoo debate:
- Pro-Tattoo: why does it feel like this is directed to me? haha. Well, i appreciate what you have said, but then again, you’re doing what most preachers do. You’re preaching an opinion. I always was a believer that hell was not eternal, so i never preached that it was. I never went all out to prove ppl wrong but I quietly always believed that God was too good fr hell to be eternal. The people i try and reach out to are the very people who left church because of non tattooed Christians constantly judging and tell em whats wrong and how things should be done, bla bla bla. So if this was an explaination to me, your first point is invalid, cus its simply not true. As for your second point, i never said tattoos were right or wrong. If people were to ask me, i’d just tell em what i think of it (my opinion). If this causes 1 to stumble, doesn’t it raise the question of ‘were their foundation built on the rock? that even petty issues like seeing tattooed Christians could cause them to stumble?’ Personally, i’ve met more people who doesnt have tattoos that have stumbled my faith. Pastors, leaders, family, friends, Christians in general. So to say that tattoos are a major reason why ppl leave church/Christ i’m not so sure. the last paragraph was a point i stated in reference to the argument that tattoos cannot be right cus it disfigures the temple of God (our body). Hence my argument that obesity and lack of exercise also does the same thing but is not paid much attention to cus its just convinient like that. It has nothing to do with stumbling ppl or preaching eternal hell, which i’m in the same boat as you

Yes. It was to clarify against your points prior. Good that you put your response here. Why? So that each one may read both sides and decide to live by whichever “opinion” they seem is “right or Biblical”.
Regardless, another Truth is:
“the Letter killeth but the Spirit giveth life” (2 Corinthians 3:6)“His Grace is bigger than your sins” - Pro-Tattoo: exactly, only difference is, i’m nt preaching my opinions

As long as there is “no Bible” verse directly on that issue, we both are preaching “our opinions”.
Mine has more “weight” simply because under the “nullified OT Covenant”, God didn’t quite like “tattoos”. - Against-Tattoo: Here’s the “nullified” verse from the OT Covenant’s “ritualistic prohibition”:
(God doesn’t change – He just exercises more Mercy over Judgment – till His Mercy triumphs over Judgment in the “end – James 2:13):“‘Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD.” (Leviticus 19:28 – NIV)

- Pro-Tattoo: well then, we’re all equally sinners in that we directly ‘disobeyed’ God’s law against shaving our beards and cutting the edges of our hair, in verse 27 of the same chapter
- Pro-Tattoo: and, i dont quite like that tattoo. haha
- Against-Tattoo: Well, not really (if you read the “literal” translation).
It says,
“27‘Ye do not round the corner of your head, nor destroy the corner of thy beard. 28‘And a cutting for the soul ye do not put in your flesh; and a writing, a cross-mark, ye do not put on you; I [am] Jehovah.” (Leviticus 19:27 – 28)
It says only not to “round” the corner of your head and not to “destroy” the corners of your beard…
Note: “rounding” the corners & “destroying” the “corners” of thy beard relates to “uneven” pattern maintained “literally” again.
Not against “shaving” or “trimming” – literally. - Against-Tattoo: Good try (again).

“Capturing the wise in their subtilty, And the counsel of wrestling ones was hastened,” (Job 5:13) - Pro-Tattoo: whats with the good try? you make it sound like we’re in a competition, lolAgainst-Tattoo: The Bible allows a True Christian to only judge those inside (other – believers)
“What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside?” (1 Corinthians 5:12)We can rebuke and correct as well (as we preach the Word):”Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage–with great patience and careful instruction.” (2 Timothy 4:2)Also, such reproving (rebuking;correcting) can be done in “public” (before all):”Those sinning, reprove before all, that the others also may have fear;” (1 Timothy 5:20)Yes, All Scripture (Writing) can be used to correct (setting aright) and for instruction in righteousness:“every Writing is God-breathed, and profitable for teaching, for conviction, for setting aright, for instruction that is in righteousness,” (2 Timothy 3:16)
But, you only need to make sure that your arguments are right (rightly dividing the Word of Truth) in order to be approved to God:
“be diligent to present thyself approved to God — a workman irreproachable, rightly dividing the word of the truth;” (2 Timothy 2:15)Judging is an option. If you are afraid of being judged, only then don’t judge others as Christ “literally” remarks:”‘Judge not, that ye may not be judged,” (Matthew 7:1)
