The Amazing Selfless Faith

It is written that:
“Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we obey His commands and do what pleases Him.” (1 John 3:21-22 NIV)

Amazing because:

“Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be made full.” – Lord Jesus Christ to His disciples in (John 16:24)

It’s amazing that those “few” (such as the apostles of Christ) who were given direct mandate by God to “ask anything in My Name, and He Will do it” didn’t quite ask what the rest are waiting for, namely “the prettiest wife, a palace of gold or even a death with no pain”.

Perhaps there’s something deeper to be learnt here regarding His apostles.

They weren’t abusing the authority given to them to fulfill any of their “selfish desires”.

Truly, the Selfless Life & Will of God to Save the World must have moved them to gradually become “selfless like Him too”.

Maybe that’s why it is fair for them to earn the title as ‘apostles of Christ the Lord’.
