What type of Love is spoken of here?

God Loves people which includes those who don’t Love Him back; In fact, He still blesses these haters or enemies of His with good gifts in life be it wealth, health, intelligence, skill, beauty, helps, answers, knowledge etc., though they never thank Him nor acknowledge Him for it.

That’s the type of Love (though unappreciated) whose depth we are asked to emulate regardless too as it is explained further in the set of verses below:

“But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to the ungrateful and evil. “Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.” – Lord Jesus Christ (Luke 6:35 – 36)

““But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.” – Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 5:44 – 45)

Why does it make sense to Love like this?

As the verse below explains, that’s the only way to be “Perfect” (as He alone is such):

“Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” – Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 5:48)

That’s the Best Way (to Love like Him) if we desire to deny ourselves & pick up our cross to follow after Him.
