Are we doers of the Word?

From ‘keeping away from sin’, ‘good works’ to ‘church order commandments’ found in the New Testament, we need to “do” it.

“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” (James 1:22)

How ‘partial’ we are to ‘doing/keeping’ His Word may prove ‘how much we love Him’ as it is written:

“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.” – Lord Jesus Christ (John 14:15)

When we don’t keep His Commandments, “we move away from His Love” as it’s implied by this verse too:

“If you keep My commandments, you will remain in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and remain in His love.” – Lord Jesus Christ (John 15:10)

Only then, a ‘deeper relationship’ is achieved with Him as the verse goes:

“Jesus replied, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word. My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.” (John 14:23)

Let us not be deceived otherwise & miss on this Most Beautiful Fellowship as it’s Revealed in Scripture.

P/S:

Some err greatly in ‘assuming’ that the ‘rules’ Paul mentions in the New Testament are ‘only for that time period’ or ‘only for the Corinthian church’ or ‘for a particular scenario’ or other equivalent errors.

Truth is, ‘what apostle Paul was inspired to write’ as New Testament Rules for both ‘believers & church’ is “the commands of the Lord” (and not his personal opinion or suggestion) as this verse distinctly answers:

“If anyone considers himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let him recognize that the things I write to you are the commands of the Lord.” – apostle Paul (1 Corinthians 14:37, written just three verses down after the controversial or largely disobeyed 1 Corinthians 14:34 verse, interesting!)

Also, this verse (below) seals it that it’s addressed to “all” (not some) ‘churches of the saints’ (“as in” or “as practiced” in all true churches in Christ):

“for God is not a God of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.” (1 Corinthians 14:33; again interestingly, this verse is the verse prior to the very disobeyed 1 Corinthians 14:34 but not so in ‘all churches of the saints’ where God authored this rule & are in peace).

Let us meditate deeply on His Word here too & not only on prosperity linked or blessing linked verses. Let us seek to obey His Word not only for the sake of receiving His blessings but to ‘please Him (God)’ Who gave these “commandments”.

As prophet Samuel too revealed in the past that “obedience is better than sacrifice” (any works one can do ‘to please Him’) as the verse states “this principle”:

“Samuel said, “Has the LORD as much delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices As in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams.” (1 Samuel 15:22)
