Good News to the Dead
“For to this end the gospel was proclaimed even to the dead, so that they might be judged indeed according to men in the flesh, but they might live in the spirit according to God.” (1 Peter 4:6, BLB)
The very fact that the Gospel (or Good News) is Preached to the dead implies that it is “Good News” to them too!
As the verse above explains so clearly, it is Good News to them too simply because despite them being judged in the flesh as men —> the final inevitable result is that they will live to God in the spirit too due to Christ agreeing to the mysterious verse below from ancient times too (by the ‘preacher’):
“then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God Who gave it.” (Ecclesiastes 12:7)
The “dead” in 1 Peter 4:6 is the ‘same dead’ (those who are dead & not whilst they are living nor spiritually dead referred to here) as mentioned in 1 Peter 4:5 (the verse before) agreeing to context perfectly.
“but they will give account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.” (1 Peter 4:5)
