His Humility = Greatest
God (Jesus) made a little “lower” than the angels for a “little while” so that…
“But we do see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with Glory and Honor because He suffered death, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone.” (Hebrews 2:9)
Hence, when Lord Jesus Christ (God manifested as Man in the Son) was on earth, the Father (God) was “greater” than the Son:
“You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.” – Lord Jesus Christ in (John 14:28)
Christ Jesus (the Word) “was God” before this “little while”:
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word (Jesus) was God.” (John 1:1)
Christ (the Son) existed as “equal” with God (the Father) before this “little while” but yet…
“Who (Jesus), existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God as something to be used for His own advantage.” (Philippians 2:6)
Yes, because God the Son “Humbled Himself” in “appearance” as a “Man” to “Die” in order to “take away the Sin of the World” (all of it):
“Being found in appearance as a Man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a Cross.” (Philippians 2:8)
Hence, God (the Father) exalted Him (the Son, Jesus) to the “Highest” Name (Equal with God again – for we cannot bow our knee to a creation nor to a divine creation of some sort but only to the Creator):
“Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the Name that is above every name,” (Philippians 2:9)
And bowing to Jesus is equivalent to bowing to the Father bringing “Glory” to “God the Father”:
“that at the Name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:10 – 11)
And after this “little while” whilst Lord Jesus was on earth for that Purpose, He has “Returned” to be “Equal” as “the Almighty” (God) Himself in His own words from the Book of Revelation:
“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “Who is, and Who was, and Who is to come, the Almighty.” – Lord Jesus Christ in (Revelation 1:8)
God in His Eternal Omnipotence ‘chose’ by “His Will” to “Reveal Himself” in this “Mystery of Godliness” which begins with “God became Flesh”:
“And without controversy Great is the Mystery of Godliness: God was manifest in the Flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.” (1 Timothy 3:16)
And that’s why the “mystical Gospel of John” echoes this Truth that the “Creator Himself” came “in Flesh” into the World but yet the “World did not know Him”:
“And the Word (God) became Flesh (Jesus), and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of Grace and Truth.” (John 1:14)
“He (Jesus) was in the World, and the World was made through Him (Jesus) yet the world did not know Him (Jesus).” (John 1:10)
There are “no two Gods” but only “One God” in His Chosen Manifestation as Lord Jesus Christ Himself declared:
“The Father and I are one.” – Lord Jesus Christ in (John 10:30)
So we see the Beautiful Manifestation of His Love:
“It was God Himself Who died to take away the Sin of the World”
