Spirit World – The Intermediate State Mystery

Before Considering the ‘Spirit World Mystery’, here’s some Important Scriptural Background First:

All Men – Will Have Christ’s Light Shine Upon them Eventually – Wicked ones too

Verses: John 1:4 – 5 (in image).

How do we know that apostle John’s Context of “All things” refers to “all creation with nothing left out” and that it also includes “men” (or “all men”) quoting John 1:4’s context with it?

Please consider this ancient Orthodox First Christianity Quote below:

” John, the disciple of the Lord, preaches this faith, and seeks, by the proclamation of the Gospel, to remove that error … The disciple of the Lord therefore desiring to put an end to all such doctrines, and to establish the rule of truth in the Church, that there is one Almighty God, who made all things by His Word, both visible and invisible; showing at the same time, that by the Word, through whom God made the creation, He also bestowed salvation on the men included in the creation; thus commenced His teaching in the Gospel: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him, and without Him was nothing made. What was made was life in Him, and the LIFE was the LIGHT of MEN. And the LIGHT shineth in DARKNESS, and the darkness comprehended it not.” “All things,” he says, “were made by Him; “therefore in “all things” this creation of ours is [included], for we cannot concede to these men that [the words] “all things” are spoken in reference to those within their Pleroma. For if their Pleroma do indeed contain these, this creation, as being such, is not outside, as I have demonstrated in the preceding book; but if they are outside the Pleroma, which indeed appeared impossible, it follows, in that case, that their Pleroma cannot be “all things: “therefore this vast creation is not outside [the Pleroma].” – St. Irenaeous of Lyons (c. 130 AD – c. 202 AD, ‘Against Heresies’, Book 3, Chapter XI, Point 1)

P/S: How about the Wicked?

The Gospel will be Preached to them too by the Apostles of the Lamb into the Afterlife:

The Gospel is preached to the Dead and after being judged ( be it in Hades or into the Lake of Fire, implied) those repentant live to God in spirit (1 Peter 4:6).

“who will give account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. For to this end the gospel was proclaimed even to the dead*, so that they might be judged indeed according to men in the flesh, but they might live in the spirit according to God.” – apostle Peter (Berean Literal Bible, BLB 1 Peter 4:5 – 6)

Is this Context Correct?

Yes, according to First Christianity as follows via the Inspired Shepherd of Hermas Scriptural Writing, to quote:

“15[92]:5 “Wherefore, Sir,” say I, “did the forty stones also come up with them from the deep, though they had already received the seal?” “Because,” saith he, “these, the apostles and the teachers who preached the name of the Son of God, after they had fallen asleep in the power and faith of the Son of God, preached also to them that had fallen asleep before them, and themselves gave unto them the seal of the preaching. 15[92]:6 Therefore they went down with them into the water, and came up again. But these went down alive [and again came up alive]; whereas the others that had fallen asleep before them went down dead and came up alive. 15[92]:7 So by their means they were quickened into life, and came to the full knowledge of the name of the Son of God. For this cause also they came up with them, and were fitted with them into the building of the tower and were builded with them, without being shaped; for they fell asleep in righteousness and in great purity. Only they had not this seal. Thou hast then the interpretation of these things also.” “I have, Sir,” say I. 17[94]:1 “Now then, Sir, explain to me concerning the mountains. Wherefore are their forms diverse the one from the other, and various?” “Listen,” saith he. “These twelve mountains are [twelve] tribes that inhabit the whole world. To these (tribes) then the Son of God was preached by the Apostles.” – Shepherd of Hermas

Though the Verses above speak of the preaching to the Sheepfold2 (non-Christian righteous in the afterlife who have not believed/not received the Seal of God), the last Verse above proves that this “Preaching of the Gospel to the Dead in the afterlife by the Apostles of Christ” applies to “All Twelve Tribes or Mountains which clearly signifies the Races of All Men in some way” proving our claim.

Conclusion – for the Wicked

Here is the Mystery of the Twelve Bells on Christ’s High Priesthood Garment: The Gospel will be Preached throughout the “World” by the “Apostles” literally including the afterlife regions (as the Shepherd of Hermas Scripture – endorsed even by St. Irenaeous of Lyons as Scripture – Quotes above) toward the end that even the “Wicked” becomes like a “child” (Post-Judgment and Gospel acceptance – in the afterlife, – the word being made “Subject” implies this irrefutably in the ‘Context of All His Enemies, e. g. 1 Corinthians 15:24 – 28’ too) – Says who?

To quote, another Orthodox First Christianity Quote Revealing this Mystery:

“Moreover, the prescription that twelve bells be attached to the [robe] of the high priest, which hung down to the feet, was a symbol of the twelve apostles, who depend on the power of Christ, the eternal Priest; and through their voice it is that all the earth has been filled with the glory and grace of God and of His Christ. Wherefore David also says: ‘Their sound has gone forth into all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world.’ … But when the passage speaks as from the lips of many, ‘We have preached before Him,’ and adds, ‘as if a child,’ it signifies that the wicked shall become subject to Him, and shall obey His command, and that all shall become as one child…” – St. Justin Martyr (100 AD – 160 AD, Dialogue with Trypho, CHAPTER XLII)

I repeat the above to highlight that “Preaching of the Gospel somewhere in the world” includes the ‘Conversion of the Wicked too as a child eventually’ (because without being converted like little children, no one can be in the kingdom of heaven – Matthew 18:3, though these may be the least due to breaking His Commandments as Matthew 5:19 agrees Perfectly to this Exegesis – Can you see it?):

Do you realize that since the Gospel is Preached to the Dead in the afterlife and causes conversion post-afterlife-Judgment (1 Peter 4:6) by the “Apostles”, this makes the Apostles of Christ themselves the ‘highest soul winners of all time’ (Proverbs 11:30)?

Hence, the Names of the Twelve Apostles of the Lamb (where the Replacement for Judas is most likely being Apostle Paul and not Matthias) is thus Written on the Foundation of that Great City which Will Descend from Heaven when Lord Jesus Christ Returns One Day:

“And the wall of the city had twelve foundation stones, and on them were the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.” – apostle John (Revelation 21:14, NASB)

Truly, He is the “Saviour of ALL MEN eventually but believers are more special” & are we supposed to teach this as Christians? Please consider these Verses below:

“It is a TRUSTWORTHY statement DESERVING FULL ACCEPTANCE . For it is for this we labor and strive, because we have fixed our hope on the LIVING GOD , who is the SAVIOR of ALL MEN, ESPECIALLY of BELIEVERS. Prescribe and TEACH THESE THINGS.” – apostle Paul (1 Timothy 4:9 – 11, NASB)

P/S: Can someone be Saved via ‘Believing after Seeing’ say in the afterlife?

To Quote:

“And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which SEETH the Son, and BELIEVETH on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.” (John 6:40, KJV)

Do you know that the Verse below PROPHESIES that One Day, all rational creatures in the WHOLE WORLD [Kosmos] will BELIEVE in HIM eventually (thus most believing only after seeing Him – 1 Timothy 3:16 in two translations/manuscripts below)?

New American Standard Bible

By common confession, great is the mystery of godliness: He who was revealed in the flesh, Was vindicated in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Proclaimed among the nations, BELIEVED on in the WORLD [Kosmos], Taken up in glory.

King James Bible

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, BELIEVED on in the WORLD [Kosmos], received up into glory.

Please note that these Verses are PROPHETIC hence the TENSE is sometimes like past tense because in God’s View, the END is a Done Permanent Reality even though these are not fulfilled yet (just like the all things being made subject to Him analogy prior).

Peace to you

Faith – Christ’s Perfect Faith and the Book of the Father Mystery toward Universal Salvation

The Verse in image – Whose Faith does it refer to?

Is the “Faith” being referred to here is ‘Christ’s Faith’ or ‘our faith’?

To quote:

Please consider:

(i) “Justification” toward “Salvation” is through “His Faith only”

Proof verses?

‘His Faith only’ by ‘His Grace’

“For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;” (Ephesians 2:8)

(ii) How do we know that it’s through “His Faith” only and not our faith in Christ?

The phrase ‘through faith’ followed by the next phrase describing ‘this faith’ namely,

‘not of yourselves’ = primarily referring to ‘not of your own faiths’ since the object spoken of prior is ‘faith’ = Alternately, can mean ‘not of anything which is due to ourselves’ which certainly includes ‘both our personal faiths & works’ —> so, ‘no’ work nor anything else can contribute toward ‘Salvation’ (“being saved”) in Ephesians 2:8 itself.

1) Faith of Jesus Christ*

2) Faith in Jesus Christ

*Why does Christ have Faith?

Because as a Man (when God became Flesh, John 1:1,14, 1 Timothy 3:16), He Fulfills all Law and Prophets (Matthew 5:17 – 18) including ‘Believing Without Seeing’ (“Faith” Definition Perfectly: Hebrews 11:1) where the Reward of His Faith will be the “Justification of All (not Christians only – in Romans 3:22, Colossians 1:16, 20, 1 Corinthians 15:24 – 28)” eventually in “His Own Times or Order” (1 Timothy 2:6, 1 Corinthians 15:20 – 23) where “Christians are the first recipients of this Salvation freely in the present time and not the only ones for all time” (Romans 3:26, Colossians 1:22, James 1:18) as More Accurate ‘Word to Word’ Translations of the Bible Reveal as discussed in posts above. That’s Why Christ becomes No. 1 in everything (Colossians 1:18) and Worthily so because that’s ‘Perfect Leadership by Example where God Himself Fulfills His Own Words including in the “Faith” aspect too (Revelation 5:5)’.

“He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He [Lord Jesus Christ] Himself will come to have FIRST PLACE in EVERYTHING.” – apostle Paul (Colossians 1:18, NASB)

P/S: Book of the Father – Restoration of All Created Things Mystery

“And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the book and to break its seals?” And no one in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the book or to look into it. Then I began to weep greatly because no one was found worthy to open the book or to look into it; and one of the elders said to me, “Stop weeping; behold, the Lion that is from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome so as to open the book and its seven seals.” – apostle John (Revelation 5:2 – 5, NASB)

What did First Christianity Reveal regarding this Mysterious “Book of the Father” which “Christ only could unlock” in the Context of Christ Centered Universalism towards “All (Created) Things”?

To quote:

St. Irenaeos of Lyons (c. 130 AD – c. 202 AD) clearly affirms that the Christian Universalist Context of ‘All Things’ to refer to ‘All Created things’ is right and it implies the SALVATION of MEN even from HELL or the ‘regions under the earth’ too. Here it is (below)

“Truly, then, the Scripture declared, which says, “First of all believe that there is one God, who has established ALL THINGS, and completed them, and having caused that from what had no being, ALL THINGS should come into EXISTENCE: “He who contains ALL THINGS, and is Himself contained by no one. Rightly also has Malachi said among the prophets: “Is it not one God who hath established us? Have we not all one Father? ” In accordance with this, too, does the apostle say, “There is one God, the Father, who is above all, and in us all.” Likewise does the Lord also say: “ALL THINGS are delivered to Me by My Father; ” manifestly by Him who MADE ALL THINGS; for He did not deliver to Him the things of another, but His own. But in ALL THINGS [it is implied that] NOTHINGS has been KEPT BACK [from Him], and for this reason the same person is the Judge of the living and THE DEAD; “having the key of David: He shall Open, and no man shall shut: He shall shut, and no man shall open.” For no one was able, either in heaven or in earth, or UNDER THE EARTH, to OPEN the BOOK of the FATHER, or to behold Him, with the EXCEPTION of the LAMB who was slain, and who redeemed us with His own Blood, receiving POWER over ALL THINGS from the same God who made ALL THINGS by the Word, and adorned them by [His] Wisdom, when “the Word was made flesh; “that even as the Word of God had the SOVEREIGNTY in the heavens, so also might He have the SOVEREIGNTY in earth, inasmuch as [He was] a righteous man, “who did no sin, neither was there found guile in His mouth; ” and that He might have the pre-eminence over THOSE THINGS which are UNDER THE EARTH, He Himself being made “the first-begotten of the dead; ” and that ALL THINGS, as I have ALREADY SAID, might behold THEIR KING; and that the PATERNAL LIGHT might meet with and rest upon the flesh of our Lord, and come to us from His resplendent flesh, and that thus MAN might attain to IMMORTALITY, having been invested with the PATERNAL LIGHT.” (St. Irenaeous of Lyons, c. 130 AD – 202 AD , ‘Against Heresies’, Book 4, Chapter XX, Point 2)

Translation Source:

Please note these words ‘carefully’ from the above which hints on Christ Saving from HELL, often termed as the ‘regions under the earth’ (now it’s HADES’ punishment regions but in the future this can refer to the LAKE of FIRE regions):

‘THOSE THINGS which are UNDER THE EARTH’ —->and that ALL THINGS —> as I have ALREADY SAID, might behold their THEIR KING; and that the PATERNAL LIGHT —–> ‘that thus MAN might attain to IMMORTALITY’.

Deep, isn’t it?

St. Irenaeous clearly quotes the “Key of David” Mystery (as described above) in the Context of Universal Salvation and we understand it likewise too.

P/S 2: Doubts – Is Christ a Ransom for Many or All?

It’s discussed in detail in link below:

We know that the Exegesis above regarding quoting Christ’s “Ransom for Many (His Sheepfold1)” is Correct and more special compared to “the rest of All Men” (1 Timothy 4:10) as the First Christianity quote below again proves irrefutably that ‘His Ransom for Many’ is only those Covenanted to Inherit the Highest First Resurrection, to quote:

All Context of Christian Salvation is falling away from the Hebrew Promise of the First Resurrection and Millennial Reign (there’s no other context – inherent Messianic) whether it is detailed in 1 Corinthians 10 or not.

Your question is equivalent to asking to prove Eternal Conscious Torment- Hell or Annihilation from the Verses in 1 Corinthians 10 only which is impossible as those words itself in Greek do not exist here.

The only word mentioned here is “Saved” and it is to be understood with ‘other Verses’ as Described above which is First Christianity’s only Doctrine of Salvation of Christians under the New Covenant as referring to the ‘partaking of the First Resurrection with no afterlife Judgment’.

Further Detailed Explanation – Regarding the “Christian Salvation”

Here’s the Proper First Christianity Orthodox Doctrine of Salvation proving this Claim True in Full

To quote:

“For this reason, when about to undergo His sufferings, that He might DECLARE to ABRAHAM and those with him the GLAD TIDINGS of the INHERITANCE being thrown open, [Christ], after He had given thanks while holding the cup, and had drunk of it, and given it to the disciples, said to them: “Drink ye all of it: this is My BLOOD of the NEW COVENANT, which shall be shed for MANY for the REMISSION of SINS. But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of the fruit of this vine, until that DAY when I will drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.” Thus, then, He will Himself renew the inheritance of the earth, and will re-organize the mystery of the glory of [His] sons; … the inheritance of the earth in which the new fruit of the vine is drunk, and the RESURRECTION of His disciples in the FLESH. For the new flesh which rises again is the same which also received the new cup. And He cannot by any means be understood as drinking of the fruit of the vine when settled down with his [disciples] above in a super-celestial place; nor, again, are they who drink it devoid of flesh, for to drink of that which flows from the vine pertains to flesh, and not spirit… And for this reason the Lord declared, “When thou makest a dinner or a supper, do not call thy friends, nor thy neighbours, nor thy kinsfolk, lest they ask thee in return, and so repay thee. But call the lame, the blind, and the poor, and thou shall be blessed, since they cannot recompense thee, but a recompense shall be made thee at the RESURRECTION of the JUST.” And again He says, “Whosoever shall have left lands, or houses, or parents, or brethren, or children because of Me, he shall receive in this world an hundred-fold, and in that to come he shall inherit eternal life.” For what are the hundred-fold [rewards] in this word, the entertainments given to the poor, and the suppers for which a return is made? These are [to take place] in the TIMES OF THE KINGDOM , that is, upon the SEVENTH DAY, which has been sanctified, in which God rested from all the works which He created, which is the true SABBATH OF THE RIGHTEOUS, which they shall not be engaged in any earthly occupation; but shall have a table at hand prepared for them by God, supplying them with all sorts of dishes.

The blessing of Isaac with which he blessed his younger son Jacob has the same meaning, when he says, “Behold, the smell of my son is as the smell of a full field which the Lord has blessed.” But “the field is the world.” And therefore he added, “God give to thee of the dew of heaven, and of the fatness of the earth, plenty of corn and wine. And let the nations serve thee, and kings bow down to thee; and be thou lord over thy brother, and thy father’s sons shall bow down to thee: cursed shall be he who shall curse thee, and blessed shall be he who shall bless thee.” If any one, then, does not accept THESE THINGS as REFERRING to the APPOINTED KINGDOM, he must fall into much contradiction and contrariety, as is the case with the Jews, who are involved in absolute perplexity. For not only did not the nations in this life serve this Jacob; but even after he had received the blessing, he himself going forth [from his home], served his uncle Laban the Syrian for twenty years; and not only was he not made lord of his brother, but he did himself bow down before his brother Esau, upon his return from Mesopotamia to his father, and offered many gifts to him. Moreover, in what way did he inherit much corn and wine here, he who emigrated to Egypt because of the famine which possessed the land in which he was dwelling, and became Subject to Pharaoh, who was then ruling over Egypt? The predicted blessing, therefore, belongs unquestionably to the times of the kingdom, when the righteous shall bear rule upon their rising from the dead; when also the creation, having been renovated and set free, shall fructify with an abundance of all kinds of food, from the dew of heaven, and from the fertility of the earth: as the elders who saw John, the disciple of the Lord, related that they had heard from him how the Lord used to teach in regard to these times, and say: The days will come, in which vines shall grow, each having ten thousand branches, and in each branch ten thousand twigs, and in each true twig ten thousand shoots, and in each one of the shoots ten thousand dusters, and on every one of the clusters ten thousand grapes, and every grape when pressed will give five and twenty metretes of wine. And when any one of the saints shall lay hold of a cluster, another shall cry out, “I am a better cluster, take me; bless the Lord through me.” In like manner [the Lord declared] that a grain of wheat would produce ten thousand ears, and that every ear should have ten thousand grains, and every grain would yield ten pounds (quinque bilibres) of clear, pure, fine flour; and that all other fruit-bearing trees, and seeds and grass, would produce in similar proportions (secundum congruentiam iis consequentem); and that all animals feeding [only] on the productions of the earth, should [in those days] become peaceful and harmonious among each other, and be in perfect subjection to man.

And these things are bone witness to in writing by PAPIAS, the hearer of JOHN, and a companion of POLYCARP, in his fourth book; for there were five books compiled (suntetagme/na) by him. And he says in addition, “Now THESE THINGS are CREDIBLE to BELIEVERS.”

And he says that, “when the traitor Judas did not give credit to them, and put the question, `How then can things about to bring forth so abundantly be wrought by the Lord? ‘the Lord declared, `They who shall come to these [times] shall see.’” When prophesying of these times, therefore, Esaias says: “The wolf also shall feed with the lamb, and the leopard shall take his rest with the kid; the calf also, and the bull, and the lion shall eat together; and a little boy shall lead them. The ox and the bear shall feed together, and their young ones shall agree together; and the lion shall eat straw as well as the ox. And the infant boy shall thrust his hand into the asp’s den, into the nest also of the adder’s brood; and they shall do no harm, nor have power to hurt anything in my holy mountain.” And again he says, in RECAPITULATION, “Wolves and lambs shall then browse together, and the lion shall eat straw like the ox, and the serpent earth as if it were bread; and they shall neither hurt nor annoy anything in my holy mountain, saith the Lord.” I am quite aware that some persons endeavour to refer these words to the case of savage men, both of different nations and various habits, who come to believe, and when they have believed, act in harmony with the righteous. But although this is [true] now with regard to some men coming from various nations to the harmony of the faith, nevertheless in the RESURRECTION of the JUST [the words shall also apply] to those animals mentioned. For God is non in all things…” – St. Irenaeous of Lyons (c. 130 AD – c. 202 AD, ‘Against Heresies’, Chapter XXXIII, Book 5)

Translation Source:

Please note the phrase “Resurrection of the Just” (Luke 14:14) which occurs in the above quote which refers to the “First Resurrection” Context (Revelation 20:4 – 6, 1 Thessalonians 4:16) during the ‘hour now is’ (John 5:25) on this Last Day of this age (John 11:24) which is a Hope not available toward any of the dead (1 Thessalonians 4:13) except Christians in faith (1 Thessalonians 4:13 – 18) with “no” Lawlessness (Matthew 7:20 – 23).

This is the Hallowed “Sabbath Day” or Messianic “times of the Kingdom” too and the ‘Gospel preached to Abraham’ as highlighted in bold letters in quote above.

Please note that this is the Correct Context for understanding how Christ’s Ransom applies more toward the “believers in faith” being more special (1 Timothy 4:10) as the “New Covenant” means too in St. Irenaeous of Lyons quote above too to refer to the “First Resurrection” or the “Resurrecton of the Just who live by faith” & their participation in these “times of the Kingdom” on this Hallowed “Seventh or Sabbath Day” during this 1000 years Millennial Reign of Christ.

Peace to you

Firstly, here’s some Paranormal Video Link:

Our Discussion holds true even if the Video are not certain to its authenticity but some of it looks true & thus I included it as an example.

1) Soul Sleep – A Common Fallacy

Some Christians believe in soul sleep and claim that no human spirit can wander the earth. They also claim that the Old Testament doesn’t speak of afterlife consciousness.

1.i. Proof from the Torah (Law)

“There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who casts a spell, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead.” (Deuteronomy 18:10 – 11, NASB)

Please note carefully the phrase “one who calls up the dead” to realize that this Law only makes sense if it was possible to contact “the dead” (context: human spirit) from the ‘Spirit World’.

If soul sleep was true and if no human spirits wander the earth or are impossible to be contacted via mediums or spiritists, the Law itself doesn’t make sense simply because why would a Law prohibit something which is impossible to be done?

1.ii. Empirical Evidence from the Bible

Demons can mimic dead people too (no doubt) but the Verse above (Deuteronomy 18:10 – 11) and the Empirical Verses below prove that even “dead human spirits” can be contacted but this should NOT be done as the Torah Prohibits it (implying that a ‘curse’ follows any disobedience by demons for those who disobey – Proverbs 11:27 – can you see it?), to quote:

“And this famous Old Testament example too (the Bible NEVER says it was an evil spirit or something but prophet Samuel himself – the fact that a witch brought him up – God allowed it – I don’t know if He allows it in other cases but in this, it’s Written as that – let’s NOT ADD or REMOVE from His Holy Word):

“And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice: and the woman spake to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me? for thou art Saul. And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what sawest thou? And the woman said unto Saul, I saw gods ascending out of the earth.

And he said unto her, What form is he of? And she said, An old man cometh up; and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed himself.” (1 Samuel 28:12 – 14, NASB)

Please also note carefully that the woman called ‘Samuel a god’ (the Bible doesn’t approve it but just records the woman’s response) and the Bible is recording the conversation as it is. However, verses 15 to 19 records the BIBLE CONFIRMING that it was Samuel (and the PROPHECY given became TRUE – evil spirits LIE).

“Then Samuel said to Saul, “Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?” And Saul answered, “I am greatly distressed; for the Philistines are waging war against me, and God has departed from me and no longer answers me, either through prophets or by dreams; therefore I have called you, that you may make known to me what I should do.”

Samuel said, “Why then do you ask me, since the LORD has departed from you and has become your adversary? “The LORD has done accordingly as He spoke through me; for the LORD has torn the kingdom out of your hand and given it to your neighbor, to David.

“As you did not obey the LORD and did not execute His fierce wrath on Amalek, so the LORD has done this thing to you this day. “Moreover the LORD will also give over Israel along with you into the hands of the Philistines, therefore tomorrow you and your sons will be with me. Indeed the LORD will give over the army of Israel into the hands of the Philistines!” (1 Samuel 28:15 – 19, NASB)”

The Bible prohibits it because when you “permit” the demonic entities to help you contact the dead human spirits or otherwise, you get cursed with evil in return (unless you repent) according to the Warning Verse below (in Principle):

“… But he who seeks evil, evil will come to him.” (Proverbs 11:27, NASB)

1.iii. Context – Who is really quoting the Torah & Its Testimony rightly?

In Verses below, the one who quotes rightly according to the Torah/Law acknowledges the immediate context of ‘afterlife spirit world’ as the Verse prior has the prohibition phrase ‘should not a people seek … for the living to the dead’.

“And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead? To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.” (Isaiah 8:19 – 20, KJV)

For if ‘contacting some dead human spirits’ was impossible, then ‘no such prohibition Law from the Torah would exist and or the Testimony in the Law would have deemed it impossible and thus mentioned not to waste your time attempting the impossible mentioning that the dead are sleeping and are not conscious or equivalent which is NOT found in the TORAH Verses’. The Ecclesiastes ‘dead know nothing Verses etc. Are all in the Context of “under the sun” or living on earth context where they are not conscious to it in the same way we cannot see the spirit world unless special permission is granted – can you really understand it now?’

Also, the so-called ‘reincarnation proof’ where a person seems to be able to quote ‘their previous life’ is again due to these ‘familiar un-resting human spirits making a person believe that he is the previously dead-reincarnated or a demonic entity causing that make belief by making known to them their previous life be it through visions or words injected directly into the mind upon demonic-infestation’.

1.iv. Who taught men how to make swords for war or contacting these spirits or even cast spells and other abominations?

The ‘fallen angels’, to quote (from the non-Canonical Book of Enoch):

“This results in the creation of the Nephilim (Genesis) or Anakim/Anak (Giants) as they are described in the book:

And they became pregnant, and they bare great giants, whose height was three hundred ells:[70] Who consumed all the acquisitions of men. And when men could no longer sustain them, the giants turned against them and devoured mankind. And they began to sin against birds, and beasts, and reptiles, and fish, and to devour one another’s flesh, and drink the blood.

It also discusses the teaching of humans by the fallen angels, chiefly Azâzêl:

And Azâzêl taught men to make swords, and knives, and shields, and breastplates, and made known to them the metals of the earth and the art of working them, and bracelets, and ornaments, and the use of antimony, and the beautifying of the eyelids, and all kinds of costly stones, and all colouring tinctures. And there arose much godlessness, and they committed fornication, and they were led astray, and became corrupt in all their ways. Semjâzâ taught enchantments, and root-cuttings, Armârôs the resolving of enchantments, Barâqîjâl, taught astrology, Kôkabêl the constellations, Ezêqêêl the knowledge of the clouds, Araqiêl the signs of the earth, Shamsiêl the signs of the sun, and Sariêl the course of the moon.

Michael, Uriel, Raphael, and Gabriel appeal to God to judge the inhabitants of the world and the fallen angels.[citation needed] Uriel is then sent by God to tell Noah of the coming cataclysm and what he needs to do.[3]

Then said the Most High, the Holy and Great One spoke, and sent Uriel to the son of Lamech, and said to him: Go to Noah and tell him in my name “Hide thyself!” and reveal to him the end that is approaching: that the whole earth will be destroyed, and a deluge is about to come upon the whole earth, and will destroy all that is on it. And now instruct him that he may escape and his seed may be preserved for all the generations of the world.

God commands Raphael to imprison Azâzêl:

the Lord said to Raphael: “Bind Azâzêl hand and foot, and cast him into the darkness: and make an opening in the desert, which is in Dûdâêl (God’s Kettle/Crucible/Cauldron), and cast him therein. And place upon him rough and jagged rocks, and cover him with darkness, and let him abide there for ever, and cover his face that he may not see light. And on the day of the great judgement he shall be cast into the fire. And heal the earth which the angels have corrupted, and proclaim the healing of the earth, that they may heal the plague, and that all the children of men may not perish through all the secret things that the Watchers have disclosed and have taught their sons. And the whole earth has been corrupted through the works that were taught by Azâzêl: to him ascribe all sin.”

God gave Gabriel instructions concerning the Nephilim and the imprisonment of the fallen angels:

And to Gabriel said the Lord: “Proceed against the biters and the reprobates, and against the children of fornication: and destroy [the children of fornication and] the children of the Watchers from amongst men [and cause them to go forth]: send them one against the other that they may destroy each other in battle …”

2) Sadhu Sundar Singh’s Spirit World Visions affirms the Bible Verses quoted

  1. No Soul Sleep and the Spirit World is an Intermediate State with human spirits too

“… To this one of the saints answered! “Death is like sleep. There is no pain in the passing over, except in the case of a few bodily diseases and mental conditions. As an exhausted man is overcome by deep sleep, so comes the sleep of death to man. Death comes so suddenly to many, that it is only with great difficulty that they realize that they have left the material world, and entered this world of spirits. … Another of the saints who was present gave this further answer to my question, “Usually,” he said, “at the time of death the body loses its power of feeling. It has no pain, but is simply overcome by a sense of drowsiness. Sometimes in cases of great weakness, or after accident, the spirit departs while the body is still unconscious. Then the spirits of those who have lived without thought of, or preparation for, entering the spiritual world, being thus suddenly transferred into the world of spirits, are extremely bewildered, and in a state of great distress at their fate, so, for a considerable period, they have to remain in the lower and darker planes of the intermediate state. The spirits of these lower spheres often greatly harass people in the world. But the only ones that they can injure are those who are like in mind to themselves, who of their own free will open their hearts to entertain them. These evil spirits, allying themselves with other evil spirits, would do immense harm in the world were it not that God has appointed innumerable angels everywhere for the protection of His people, and of His creation, so that His people are always safe in His keeping.”

“Evil spirits can injure only those in the world who are like in nature to themselves, and then they can do it only to a limited extent. They can, indeed, trouble the righteous, but not without God’s permission…”

  1. How does this Intermediate State of the World of Spirits is Described?

“Once in the course of conversation, the saints gave me this information. “After death the soul of every human being will enter the world of spirits, and every one, according to the stage of his spiritual growth, will dwell with spirits like in mind and in nature to himself, either in the darkness or in the light of glory. We are assured that no one in the physical body has entered into the spiritual world, except Christ and a few saints, whose bodies were transformed into glorious bodies, yet to some it has been granted, that, while still dwelling in the world, they can see the world of spirits, and heaven itself, as in 2 Cor. 12:2, though they themselves cannot tell whether they enter Paradise in the body or in the spirit.”

iii. Existence of Sheepfold1 – Christians – Saved without any afterlife Judgment (John 5:24, John 10:14)

A minister who looked on himself as an exceedingly learned and religious man died at a ripe old age. And without doubt, he was a good man. When the angels came to take him to the place appointed for him by the Lord in the world of spirits, they brought him into the intermediate state, and left him there with many other good spirits, who had lately arrived, in charge of those angels who are appointed to instruct good souls, while they themselves went back to usher in another good spirit. In that intermediate heaven, there are grades upon grades right up to the higher heavens, and the grade into which any soul is admitted for instruction, is determined by the real goodness of his life on earth.

When the angels, who had put this minister in his grade, came back conducting in the other soul, for whom they had gone, they brought him up beyond the grade in which the minister was, on their way up to a higher plane. Seeing this the minister in a blustering voice called out, “What right have you to leave me half-way up to that glorious country, while You take this other man away up near to it? Neither in holiness, nor in anything else, am I in any way less than this man, or than you yourselves.” The angels replied, “There is no question here of great or small, or of more or less, but a man is put into whatever grade he has merited by his life and faith. You are not quite ready yet for that upper grade, so you will have to remain here for a while, and learn some of the things that our fellow-workers are appointed to teach. Then, when the Lord commands us, we will, with great pleasure, take you with us to that higher sphere.” He said, “I have been teaching people all my life about the way to reach heaven. What more have I to learn? I know all about it.”

Then the instructing angels said, “They must go up now, we can’t detain them, but we will answer your question. My friend, do not be offended if we speak plainly, for it is for your good. You think you are alone here, but the Lord is also here though you cannot see Him. The pride that you displayed when you said, ‘I know all about it’ prevents you from seeing Him, and from going up higher. Humility is the cure for this pride. Practice it and your desire will be granted.” After this, one of the angels told him, “The man who has just been promoted above you, was no learned or famous man. You did not look at him very carefully. He was a member of your own congregation. People hardly knew him at all, for he was an ordinary working man, and had little leisure from his work. But in his workshop, many knew him as an industrious and honest worker. All who came in contact with him recognized his Christian character. In the war, he was called up for service in France. There, one day, as he was helping a wounded comrade, he was struck by a bullet and killed.

Though his death was sudden, he was ready for it, so he did not have to remain in the intermediate state as long as you will have to do. His promotion depends, not on favoritism, but on his spiritual worthiness. His life of prayer and humility, while he was in the world, prepared him to a great extent for the spiritual world. Now he is rejoicing at having reached his appointed place, and is thanking and praising the Lord, who, in His mercy, has saved him, and given him eternal life.”

  1. Existence of Sheepfold2 – Non Christian Morally Good Saved post Judgment in Hades accordingly (1 Peter 4:6, John 10:16)

The soul of a German philosopher entered into the world of spirits and saw from afar the incomparable glory of the spiritual world, and the boundless happiness of its people. He was delighted with what he saw, but his stubborn intellectualism stood in the way of his entering into it, and enjoying its happiness. Instead of admitting that it was real, he argued thus with himself, “There is no doubt at all that I see all this, but what proof is there that it has objective existence, and is not some illusion conjured up by my mind? From end to end of all this scene I will apply the tests of logic, philosophy and science, and then only will I be convinced that it has a reality of its own, and is no illusion.” … . I asked one of the angels what the end of this man would be, and he replied “If this man’s life had been altogether bad, then he would at once have joined the spirits of darkness, but he is not without a moral sense, so for a very long time he will wander blindly round in the dim light of the lower parts of the intermediate state, and keep on bumping his philosophical head, until tired of his foolishness, he repents. Then he will be ready to receive the necessary instruction from the angels appointed for that purpose, and, when instructed, will he be fit to enter into the fuller light of God in the higher sphere.”

Or even a sincerely wrong non-Christian Idolater may have a chance if he doesn’t hold too strongly to his false beliefs, to quote:

I saw in a vision the spirit of an idolater on reaching the world of spirits begin at once to search for his god. Then the saints said to him, “There is no god here save the One True God, and Christ, who is His manifestation.” At this, the man was a good deal astonished, but being a sincere seeker after truth, he frankly admitted that he had been in error. He eagerly sought to know the correct view of truth, and asked if he might see the Christ. Shortly after this Christ manifested Himself in a dim light to him, and to others who had newly arrived in the world of spirits, because at this stage they could not have endured a full exhibition of His glory, for His glory is so surpassing that even the angels look on Him with difficulty, and cover their faces with their wings (Isaiah 6:9). When He does reveal Himself to any one He takes into account the particular stage of progress to which that soul has attained, so He appears dimly, or in the fuller light of His glory, that the sight of Him may be endured. So, when these spirits saw Christ in this dim but attractive light, they were filled with a joy and peace, which is beyond our power to describe. Bathed in the rays of His life-giving light, and with the waves of His love, which constantly flow out from Him, flowing over them, all their error was washed away. Then with all their hearts, they acknowledged Him as the Truth, and found healing, and, bowing in lowly adoration before Him, thanked and praised Him. And the saints, who had been appointed for their instruction; also rejoiced over them.”

  1. Existence of ‘the soul of the wicked men’

Once in my presence a man of evil life entered at death into the world of spirits. When the angel and saints wished to help him he at once began to curse and revile them, and say, “God is altogether unjust. He has prepared heaven for such flattering slaves as you are, and casts the rest of mankind into hell. Yet you call Him Love!” The angels replied, “God certainly is Love. He created men that they might live forever in happy fellowship with Him, but men, by their own obstinacy, and by abuse of their free will have turned their faces away from Him, and have made hell for themselves. God neither casts any one into hell, nor will He ever do so, but man himself, by being entangled in sin, creates hell for himself. God never created any hell.”

Just then, the exceedingly sweet voice of one of the high angels was heard from above saying, “God gives permission that this man may be brought into heaven.” Eagerly the man stepped forward accompanied by two angels, but when they reached the door of heaven, and saw the holy and light-enveloped place and the glorious and blessed inhabitants that dwell there, he began to feel uneasy. The angels said to him, “See how beautiful a world is this! Go a little farther, and look at the dear Lord sitting on His throne.” From the door he looked, and then as the light of the Sun of Righteousness revealed to him the impurity of his sin-defiled life, he started back in an agony of self-loathing, and fled, with such precipitancy, that he did not even stop in the intermediate state of the world of spirits, but like a stone he passed through it, and cast himself headlong into the bottomless pit.

Then the sweet and ravishing voice of the Lord was heard saying, “Look, My dear children, none is forbidden to come here, and no one forbade this man, nor has any one asked him to leave. It was his own impure life that forced him to flee from this holy place, for, ‘Except a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of God’ (John 3:3).”

Note: John 10:14 mentions Sheepfold1 (Christians) while John 10:16 mentions Sheepfold2 (non-Christian relatively good) simply because “fold” (AULES in Greek) means ‘house or dwelling’ meaning that in John 10:14, 16 Christ is Revealing two ‘afterlife abode/dwelling’ for the Sheep & if it refers to Jew vs Gentile Sheep as popular theology today rings, it causes a contradiction that Jewish & Gentile believers go to different ‘afterlife destinations’ (or “fold”) contradicting Galatians 3:26 – 29 which Speaks of ‘no distinctions among believers in their final destinations’. Further, we know that Galatians 3:26 – 29 or John 10:14, 16 refers to the afterlife Context because St. Clement of Rome himself defines this ‘no distinction’ Context only into the ‘future or afterlife’ and NOT while we still live on earth, to quote:

“If therefore we shalt have wrought righteousness in the sight of God, we shalt enter into His kingdom and shall receive the promises which ear hath not heard nor eye seen, nor eye seen, neither hath it entered into the heart of man. Let us therefore await the kingdom of God betimes in love and righteousness, since we know not the day of God’s appearing. For the Lord Himself, being asked by a certain person when his kingdom would come, said, When the two shall be one, and the outside as the inside, and the male with the female, neither male or female. Now the two are one, when we speak truth among ourselves, and in two bodies there shall be one soul without dissimulation. And by the outside as the inside He meaneth this: by the inside he meaneth the soul and by the outside the body. Therefore in like manner as thy body appeareth, so also let thy soul be manifest by its good works. And by the male with the female, neither male nor female, he meaneth this; that a brother seeing a sister should have no thought of her as a female, and that a sister seeing a brother should not have any thought of him as a male. These things if ye do, saith He, the kingdom of my father shall come.” – St. Clement of Rome (c. 35 AD – c. 99 AD, 2 Clement 11:7, 2 Clement 12:1 – 6)

So if any Christian claims that they have attained Galatians 3:28, they are lying as NO ABRAHAMIC PROMISE is given yet on earth now in the current state (Hebrews 11:13, this Verse from the Hebrew’s Definition of Faith itself Debunks all such Modern Heresies):

“These ALL died in faith, NOT having RECEIVED the PROMISES, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.” – Anonymous (Hebrews 11:13, KJV)

  1. Afterlife Judgment is to the “Ages/Aeons” or “forever”?

Will the Wicked be in Hell forever* or to the “ages” (Aeons)?

To quote:

A robber died and entered the world of spirits… On this one of the angels said, “If spirits of this kind were not kept down in the darkness or the bottomless pit, then they would cause immense harm wherever they might go. This man’s conscience is so dead, that even after he has reached the world of spirits, he fails to recognize that, by murdering and robbing in the world, he has wasted his own spiritual discernment and life. He killed and destroyed others, but in reality, he has destroyed himself. God alone knows if this man, and those who are like him, will remain in torment for ages or forever.” … A kind of lightless fire burns forever and torments these souls, but neither are they altogether consumed, nor does the fire die out. A spirit who was watching what had just happened said, “Who knows but that in the end this may not be a cleansing flame?” …”

*for ever an ever = more accurately, to the ‘ages of Ages’ or ‘to the aeons of Aeons’ (e. g. Even the Maximum Judgment Sentence in Revelation 20:10) – the ‘same phrase’ to which St. Irenaeous himself has stated that it refers to the ‘aeons’ only, in his own words (definition) below:

“… we ourselves, when at the giving of thanks we pronounce the words, “To Aeons of Aeons” do set forth these Aeons. And, in fine, wherever the words Aeon or Aeons occur, they at once refer them to these beings.” – St. Irenaeous of Lyons (c. 130 AD – c. 202 AD, ‘Against Heresies’, Chapter III, Book I)

Translation Source:

So, Sadhu Sundar Singh’s “ages” (Greek “Aeons” – long but unknown limited duration of time concept) is the same as First Christianity’s understanding of it as St. Irenaeous of Lyons (c. 130 AD – 202 AD) Orthodox Quote above agrees Perfectly, Source:

Focus Phrase proving this simple claim:

“… we [Christian, True Believers] pronounce the words, “To aeons of Aeons” do set forth these aeons…”

vii. Hope for the Wicked post Gehenna Judgment

Is there Hope for the Wcked post their Final Judgment in the Lake of Fire (as say Revelation 22:17 seem to point to “any” such “thirsty” ones including those from the “Lake of Fire” as “Fire causes Spiritual Thirst” too right as part of God Making “All things or All Creation New” – Revelation 21:5 some via Fire-Revelation 21:8)?

Sundar Singh Beautifully Reveals either possibility first but in the conclusion of the Book acknowledges that ‘Hell is not forever as all Creation will be made new/born again eventually post Judgment’ (as Romans 8:20 – 22 or 1 Corinthians 15:24 – 28 implies irrefutably):

Then another of the saints said, “All the inhabitants of heaven know that God is Love, but it had been hidden from all eternity that His love is so wonderful that He would become man to save sinners, and for their cleansing would die on the Cross. He suffered thus that He might save men, and all creation, which is in subjection to vanity. Thus God, in becoming man, has shown His heart to His children, but had any other means been used His infinite love would have remained forever hidden. “Now the whole creation, with earnest expectation, awaits the manifestation of the sons of God, when they shall be again restored and glorified. But, at present, they, and all creation, will remain groaning and travailing till this new creation comes to pass. And those also who have been born again groan within themselves, waiting for the redemption of the body; and the time approaches when the whole creation, being obedient to God in all things, will be freed from corruption, and from this vanity forever. Then will it remain eternally happy in God, and will fulfill in itself the purpose for which it was created. Then God will be all in all” (Rom. 8:18-23).”

Judgment-part Details – First Death and Second Death

First Death leads to afterlife Judgment in Hades/Sheol in one’s soul (Hebrews 9:27, Luke 16:19 – 31).

Gospel is preached to the Dead after being judged and those repentant live to God in spirit (1 Peter 4:6).

*the dead in 1 Peter 4:6 to whom the Gospel is Preached is the “same” dead as mentioned to be judged in afterlife Judgments in 1 Peter 4:5 which is clearly understood in proper context with no manipulations of any kind proving that The Gospel is Preached even to “the dead”. The ‘spiritually dead’ or equivalent part is discussed first in 1 Peter 4:1 – 4 where the context of ‘if they [the wicked who speak evil of you] did not repent, then the next two Verses [1 Peter 4:5 – 6] warns of their afterlife Judgment upon Death toward them as Described in Full below’ – Can you really see it?

“1Therefore Christ having suffereda in the flesh, you also arm yourselves with the same mind, because the one having suffered in the flesh is done with sin, 2so as to live the remaining time in the flesh no longer to men’s desires, but to the will of God. 3For the time past is sufficient to have carried out the desire of the Gentiles, having walked in sensuality, lusts, drunkenness, orgies, carousing, and abominable idolatries. 4With respect to this, they think it strange of you not running with them into the same overflow of debauchery, speaking evil of you, 5who will give account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. 6For to this end the gospel was proclaimed even to the dead, so that they might be judged indeed according to men in the flesh, but they might live in the spirit according to God.” – apostle Peter (Berean Literal Bible, BLB 1 Peter 4:1 – 6)

Please note the phrase “judged indeed according to men in the flesh” in 1 Peter 4:6 which signifies being judged for deeds done prior in the flesh but live to God in spirit only after that. Usually this is Sheepfold2 (non-Christian righteous as even the Shepherd of Hermas Writing* testifies to this Preaching of the Gospel by the 40 apostles + teachers in the ‘Spirit World’ to such morally good non-Christians).

The Second Death is for those who remain unrepentant till the consummation of the age where they will be resurrected for judgment in Gehenna or the Lake of Fire (John 5:28 – 29, Revelation 20:11 – 15). This is the wicked where as Sundar Singh’s Visions have shown that such cannot seem to repent even if they try due to their gross sins which can also be cleansed later in the Lake of Fire.

*Shepherd of Hermas is said to be Scripture by St. Irenaeous, Pope Callixtus I and even St. Clement of Alexandria and Tertullian too.

The common Roman Catholic or Eastern Orthodox position of assuming these Shepherd of Hermas afterlife repentance Verses to refer to “Purgatory for Christians” is flawed because “Christians do not endure any afterlife Judgment (John 5:24)”. Furthermore , fallen Christians do not need to hear the Gospel again because they have heard it before but only non-Christian good.

Some Verses in the Shepherd of Hermas Speak of “fallen Christians” repenting in the afterlife but not fitted into the “Tower of Repentance” (Sheepfold1’s Fold or Afterlife Abode Signified) but into another place (another afterlife abode) more humble but again, only after necessary Judgments first (e. g. Hebrews 2:2), as discussed in more detail in post below for further edification:

“For it is for this we labor and strive, because we have fixed our hope on the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of believers.” – apostle Paul (1 Timothy 4:10, NASB)

Lord Jesus Christ’s Atonement applies to All Men eventually (Christians or non-Christians) only after these Judgment-part either ‘in this life for Christians’ (Hebrews 12:5 – 11) or ‘in the afterlife’ (toward non-Christians, Hebrews 9:27) due to the demand of Victims and angelic authorities (the ‘other’ in John 12:48) as He Himself Judges none for the Wrongs Done to Him being Perfect Love (John 12:47).

Yes, God Who is Love allows evil to be exercised by creation’s will even now without intervening because He likewise allows those evil to be judged by the victims or those in authority – relevant parties accordingly (the “other/one which judges” in John 12:48 and “Christ executes or allows their equivalent Judgment Demands accordingly” as implied in John 5:27) where only Christians do not get into any afterlife Judgment having passed upon Death to Life (John 5:24) having been Judged in some way on earth prior to their death (Hebrews 12:5 – 11).

Hell is not Eternal – Is it Dangerous for a Christian to Believe that?

Not at all. Why?

Here are two Orthodox Reasons:

1) No Condemnation by the Early Eternal Hell believing Church based on one’s Belief in Hell

To quote an infamous fact:

St. Basil the Great (c. 329-379) in his De Asceticis wrote: “The mass of men (Christians) say that there is to be an end of punishment to those who are punished.” I point out that he is not classified as a Universalist.

St. Augustine of Hippo (354-430 A.D.), ‘one of the four great Latin Church Fathers (Augustine, Ambrose, Jerome and Gregory the Great), wrote:

“There are very many in our day, who though not denying the Holy Scriptures, do not believe in endless torments.”

2) What is the Broader Definition of the Orthodox Hell?

“Hell exists as a final possibility, but several of the Fathers have none the less believed that in the end all will be reconciled to God.

It is heretical to say that all must be saved, for this is to deny free will; but it is legitimate to hope that all may be saved.

Until the Last Day comes, we must not despair of anyone’s salvation, but must long and pray for the reconciliation of all without exception. No one must be excluded from our loving intercession.

‘What is a merciful heart?’ asked St. Isaac the Syrian (c. 613 AD – c. 700 AD). ‘It is a heart that burns with love for the whole of creation, for men, for the birds, for the beasts, for the demons, for all creatures.’

St. Gregory of Nyssa (c. 335 AD – c. 395 AD) said that Christians may legitimately hope even for the redemption of the Devil.”

Source: Kallistos Ware, Orthodox Church (1993)

Who is Kallistos Ware?

“Ware, Kallistos (1934-), theological author and Eastern Orthodox metropolitan bishop of of Diokleia, former Spalding Lecturer at the University of Oxford in Eastern Orthodox studies, Fellow of Pembroke College, Oxford, former chairman of the board of directors of the Institute for Orthodox Christian Studies, Cambridge”

Did he really say the quote above? Yes, it’s in link above (please click it).

More Details?

P/S: How Influential, Orthodox and Respectable was St. Gregory of Nyssa even among his ‘eternal Hell’ rivals?

“But also four hundred years after his death the Seventh Ecumenical Council gave him (St. Gregory of Nyssa) the one and only title which it has given to theologians in the Church, naming him ‘father of fathers’.”

I’m not in favour of the term ‘father of fathers’ (in reference to Matthew 23:9) but it is better to be worded ‘leader of leaders’ among the Church Leaders but I am quoting it to point to the Orthodoxy of this Saint.

Peace to you
