Obedience is Better than any Sacrifice

“Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the LORD? To obey is better than sacrifice,…” (1 Samuel 15:22, NIV)

Here’s a woe regarding converting into ‘false teachings’ through ‘ministry’ as the Pharisees did:

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you travel around on sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves.” – Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 23:15, NASB)

A Christian may find more Mercy than a Pharisee for one reason namely that, ‘they believe that Lord Jesus Christ is the Messiah’. Only God decides to whom He shows Mercy to (Romans 9:15) and whom He judges as Lawless (Matthew 7:20 – 23).

But “beyond being saved” —> “obedience” (not ministry or good works only) —> to ‘ALL’ His Commands’ which applies to us (e.g. as a Gentile or Jew believer, Acts 21:24 – 25 or Male vs Female, 1 Timothy 2:12, 1 Corinthians 14:14 – 16, 34) —-> will lead to being ‘great or least’ in His Kingdom:

“Whoever then shall break one of the least of these commandments and shall teach others the same, he will be called least in the kingdom of the heavens; but whoever shall keep and shall teach them, he will be called great in the kingdom of the heavens.” – Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 5:19, BLB)

Which “commands”?

‘ALL’ Law and Prophets too —> His Commands (1 Corinthians 14:37 as well) —> as two prior verses describe:

“Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the Prophets. I have not come to abolish, but to fulfill.

For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth shall pass away, not even one iota, nor one stroke of a letter, shall pass away from the law, until everything should happen.” – Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 5:17 – 18, BLB)

The ‘punishment’ for ‘ignoring’ the “Commands of the Blessed Lord” delivered through apostle Paul to any believing Gentile is as follows:

“Did God’s word originate with you? Or are you the only ones it has reached?

If anyone considers himself a prophet or spiritual person, let him acknowledge that what I am writing you is the Lord’s command.

But if anyone ignores this, he himself will be ignored.” (1 Corinthians 14:36 – 38, BSB)

Example: Perhaps their ‘entire ministry’ will be ‘ignored’ as a ‘Judgment’. I can’t be sure but the verse certainly points to such possibility clearly. May God have Mercy & let us not follow the ‘patterns of the flesh/world’ and rather ‘submit to God’s Rules’ for ‘His Work’. Yes. ‘His Ministry, His Law’.

A Conclusion

Learning from the Prophets & Men of God from the Bible:

Obedience is always going to be greater than sacrifice. That’s the way the prophets of God earned their good standing with God, by obeying and preaching His Word. They may not have been the best charity workers or those leading the synagogues of their time (ministry) but certainly were among the ‘most obedient ones to His Word’ (please ponder this ‘deeply’).

I will obey apostle Paul on 1 Timothy 2:12 from which you will attempt to ‘create’ something not written.

Here’s a simple explanation: the ‘women’ mentioned in 1 Timothy 2:9 – 10 is the ‘same women’ (generally) mentioned in 1 Timothy 2:11 – 12.

Sorry, but we don’t twist Scripture to fit ‘your desires’ but rather ‘obey God rather than man’ following it ‘as it is written’

Even in ancient times, when “women rule over man” (spiritually), it is a “cursed state”. God does NOT change.

As the verse in Isaiah 3:12 states, only those who ‘lead you astray’ from ‘the path’ have or teach that ‘women rule over them’ (implied).

Our Rebellion against His Word (Commands, Rules & Law)

May be ‘worse’ than we ‘think’ as the verses in image clearly describe (Isaiah 1:2 – 3, 1 Samuel 15:23).

‘Even a Dog obeys its Master because it is grateful. Only when we are worse than dogs being ungrateful, we disobey our Blessed Lord’ – Anonymous
